There are overnight trains from Chennai to Cochin. Take a bus or a taxi from Cochin to Munnar that takes about 3.5hrs one way.
You can visit the website www.indianrail.gov.in to know details of trains.
I am also looking for the same information and more. I want to know about the travel route, travel media and the overall travel expences to go to Munnar from Chennai.
