Fort View Guest House: Only conditionally recommendable

This hotel has a beautifull view on the Palaces, the better situated rooms are however nicely expensive (RS 1200 - 1500/double/night).
The cheapest rooms were (01/2008) for 600,-/double, cleanness reasonable but very limited hot shower - small and slow boiler so that the hot water was hardly enough for one person and the second one than had to wait at least 40 minutes.
Location is close to centre but there is in fact no other possibility in the small Orccha :o)

It was our first night in India so I had no comparison, later on I recognized that this hotel was overpriced, similar rooms at similarly interesting places were about 300-400 Rs.

Unique Quality: Nice view from the terasse, especially in the evening.

Views from Hotel Fort View: Stunning views!

These are the views from my hotel over the dried up river bed from the end of the garden at the Hotel Fort View so you can understand where it gets its name from. You can watch the locals crossing over on the boulders carrying goods on their head or walking over with herds of goats. Young boys play games with sticks and balls. It's a nice place to rest and relax in the evening as there are seats here.

Hotel Fort View: Lives up to its name

I got off the bus and walked the short walk back along the road to this hotel which was my first choice and luckily they had rooms. In fact I had a choice of two - the first for Rs250 which looked the price and the second one for Rs450 which was much better so I plumped for the latter and the guy showing me the room discounted it for me to Rs400 which was nice of him. All the rooms open out onto a small rectangonal garden with flowers and shrubs which itself opens out onto an almost dried up wide river which has a rocky passage that allows dry passage from one bank to the other. You get a great view of the two palaces and a stone bridge with narrow archways that goes over the river and up to the palaces. My room was nice and clean with 2 single beds, 2 wooden chairs, a large coffee table, small table between the beds, marble floor tiles, rug. The bathroom was very clean with a good hotwater shower. Good place to stay with helpful, polite and friendly staff.

Hotel Mansarovar or Ram Mandir Lodge: Forgot the Name

Seems to be a good and clean hotel in a 'pink palace'.

If someone gets there, let me know the correct name, tnx... :-)
