Cheap export garments shopping

by tvp1234

I'm going to Mumbai next week and hope to do some serious shopping. Does anyone know some good addresses of bargains in women's designer export clothes? I know there are a few outlets on Colaba Causeway selling surplus designer clothes, that's the kind of shopping I'm after. Can anybody please give me some advice?

Just stroll around Colaba - you are spoiled for choice with the amount of shops that you will find many fantastic bargains at.And do bargain- you will always get a great price. I had to buy an extra bag to get all the clothes home that I bought in this area.

FIGURING OUT WHERE TO GO UPON ARRIVAL IS A HUGE TASK. So how does one get to their hotel/destination from the airport? That is a question that plagues the minds of all visitors.
The airport is located 19 miles (30 km) north of Mumbai. Sahar is the international terminal; Santa Cruz, 15 miles (25 km) from Sahar, is the domestic terminal. There are regular shuttle buses between the two.

There are counters at the airport where you can book a taxi for a set fare. You will get a coupon to give to the driver, so there will be no uncertainty over what the fare will be. Fare to the center will be about 300 rupees ($7) and the trip will take from 30 to 60 minutes. Metered cabs are available, but not recommended.

Airlink operates a bus service from the airport to the Air India Building at Nariman Point. The fare is about 70 rupees ($2). Travel time is extremely variable, from 50 minutes to 2 hours if the streets are especially clogged, so always leave plenty of time when going to or from the airport. The bus is not always reliable, which is why a cab is recommended.

Cars with drivers are available for the trip from the airport. They cost four or five times the taxi fare, but provide a much smoother trip. Check with the tourist information counter for booking information. There are no car rental counters at Bombay-Sahar.

Navratri - the festival of nine nights

by rjogadiya

Navratri, the festival of nine nights is celebrated to pay reverence to the benign Goddess Durga. The festival is the celebration of the eternal truth that truth prevails, whatever the circumstances.

Though it is celebrated in almost all parts of India during October to November, the celebrations in Gujarat, Mumbai and Mysore holds more prominence.

The main difference between the 'Garba' and 'Dandiya' dance performances is that Garba is performed before
'Aarti' (worshipping ritual) as devotional performances in the honor of the Goddess while Dandiya is performed after it, as a part of merriment. While Garba is performed exclusively by women, men and women join in for Dandiya.

Also known as 'stick dance' as performers use a pair of colorfully decorated sticks as props, the circular movements of Dandiya Raas are slightly more complex than that of Garba. The dancers strike the sticks with their partners to the rhythm of the music.

The origin of these dance performances or 'Raas' can be traced back to the life of Lord Krishna. Today, 'Rasa' is not only an important part of Navaratra in Gujarat but extends itself to other festivals related to harvest and crops as well.

Trekking to Peth fort - Near Karjat Mumbai

by shahronakm

Hi friends,

My wife & I had been on a trek to Peth fort near Karjat. Here is an account of the same.

The climb up to Peth village was very easy & we enjoyed every moment of the same, clicking beautiful sceneries of plains & other mountain ranges at regular intervals. There were one or two waterfalls also on the way. We took rest for few minutes at a plateau top enjoying the landscape around. As soon as we started again we saw a caterpillar & we immediately clicked its snap & also took a short movie of this creature...............

Detailed account of the trek can be read on

Ancient Creators

by keeweechic

Unfortunately not much is known about the not much is known of the creators and artists who designed and carved these caves but the sculptures in the caves are believed to have been created somewhere between 450 and 750 A.D. With there being three openings into the caves, there is plenty of natural light.
