Don't stay here

I made a booking online in advance for a single standard room because my flight was sheduled to arrive at Mumbai around 23:30.
My room was very small and smelly. They tryed to offer me a room without a window facing the street. Stuff is cleaning the hotel, but only the floor. Shared bath rooms are really bad. At the end, I asked for a room with private bath but it wasn't available. Unfortunatelly, I had to stay in this hotel because it was too late to look for another place under bad weather conditions.

Unique Quality: Booking online!

Budget Choices....

by Donna_in_India

Prices for hotels in Mumbai range from one extreme to the other. There are plenty of very expensive hotels in the city but decent budget choices are difficult to find.

If you've got a backpacker budget, the only places to stay are:

Salvation Army Red Shield Hostel , which has clean small rooms starting at Rs 190 PP for a non AC double, or the YWCA International Guest House on Madame Cama Road, just off Regal Circle, for about twice that.

Mumbai has few other cheap and acceptable lodgings, but has some nice moderate hotels that range from Rs 800 a night to 4000 (Rs 4000 is considered CHEAP in Mumbai!). These include:

The Hotel New Bengal (simple, clean, with AC and Non-AC rooms) near Crawford Market and not too far from CST.
A little off the beaten track is Pals Hotel. near Cotton Green, with rooms starting at Rs 520 for a non-AC single.
Try the Pali Hill Tourist Hotel in Bandra (on the higher end).
The ISKCON Hari Krishna Temple in Juhu has excellent, clean rooms available for the public at Rs 2500.

Good CHEAP hotel in Fort Area, mumbai?

by rockinrobotin

Hi All,
Im looking for cheap accomodations (trying for $20CDN/2 ppl) around the Fort/ Kalbadevi/Crawford Market area of Mumbai... any suggestions? Since Im arriving in India for the first time at an ungodly early hour, I am also hoping to find a place that will do an airport pickup for me.

Thanks in advance!

You can try the belt of hotels in the Kalbadevi Area. They are clean and cheap mostly used by Businessmen on travel.

You will have a choice of dorm, room with shared toilet and room with toilet.

Hi there,

In the Fort area the best one is the Residency Hotel at Rs1750 for a double room and is a really nice clean and good place where I usually have a lot of my friends staying so I know how it is from their experiences. There are cheaper ones available too at around Rs900 just next to the Residency called Hotel Benazeer and then there is Hotel New Bengal near Crawford Market at about Rs700. I am sure you will find them very much affordable and they are pretty decent and good places to stay in the South Mumbai area. There is another really good place near Colaba called the YWCA International Center which is like a hotel and is the best place in my opinion but is usually completely full days in advance. It charges Rs1750 per room and is one of the cleanest places you can stay in Mumbai. Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Aadil.
