Good value for money

I stayed in this hotel during March 2005.
Very good service overall.
Rooms have aircon, cable TV, fridge and bathroom, 24h room service.
Good coffee shop, where breakfast is served.
I wanted to stay there again during my recent visit, butthey were fully booked 3 months in advance for December 2007 /January 2008.02.14
Rs 3630 per night (including breakfast - Dec 2007/Jan 2008)

Unique Quality: Satisfactory

Handy for first timers only...

There are thousands of hotels in Mumbai so we asked the guys at SD Enterprises to sort out our reservation as they were also providing our india rail passes (see travel tips).

When I'm with familiy we normally stay in Bhindi bazaar but I thought the misses might appreciate the relative quiet and convenience of Colaba. Anyway the location is spot on though the hotel is located above a row of shops. The rooms were fine but not as luxurious as they website would make you believe. By indian standards however this is still a medium class hotel even though it isn't exactly modern. Prices I felt were pretty high but then you're paying for the location. I wouldn't personally stay here again but I would strongly recommend this place if you are visiting India for the first time and need a hotel for your first night. Otherwise there are tonnes of better choices at much better rates.

Unique Quality: Location, Location, Location. Its within walking distance to Victoria station and Crawford Market (though a longish walk). Also its right by the gateway of India and handy for a visit to Elephanta Island.

Do not go to this Hotel

by ladagspa about Hotel Apollo

We wanted to book the Hotel Suba Palace, but they were full, so the Manager suggested Hotel Apollo. Since it was for one night, we went and got a room, supposedly Executive for Rs 3700.
The rooms are big, but not at all clean, and a very uncomfortable bed.
The Location of TV is beside the bed so you have an aching neck in few minuts.
No Sofa to relax.

For Beaskfast only Toast, Omellete and butter/jam was available.

Do not stay in this hotel...unless you do not find any other place. None

Accommodation in Colaba, Mumbai

by garethowen

Hi!

English couple looking for accommodation in Mumbai- preferably Colaba. Does anyone recommend budget- mid range hotels?

We're backpackers, but are at the end of our 5 month stint in Asia, so would like some nice accommodation for once!

Thank you!

I can recommend a Great little hotel in The Fort District -- just a couple of minutes walk away from CST (Victoria Terminus) that I stayed in this year called Hotel Modern, -- Clean, Friendly and inexpensive with a choice of aircon and none aircon Rooms
Details on my India page under accommodation
Hope that helps
