Near railway, staff were helpful and friendly, place can do with clean up, had a bar fridge, has a tv, but could not get English channels, Aircon was old but working,

Unique Quality: Door had slide lock inside, bed was comfy, linen was clean
I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. It serves the purpose, in that it isnt a very good hotel overall, but has clean rooms and a good 'working AC', you know what i mean, and ok if you just intend to spend the night and move the next morning.
Dont expect any high frills here.
Unique Quality: Its close to Khar station and a lotta other eateries for that early morning b'fast.
Hello i was wondering if anyone knew of any good, cheap and pleasant hostels to stay in in mumbai? ive put a small deposit down on hotel samrat. Has anyone stayed there? any advice?
I suggest that you book into any hotel for one NIGHT in Colaba area- walk around and check out accommodations in this area, as there are a number of very cheap hotels. Colaba is the best area to stay in, near to all Mumbai attractions.Also popular for travellers, and good eateries. Have a look at my Mumbai page- (link is on my homepage)
Even the Salvation Army in the Colaba area is a great budget accomodation

in 2006, i stayed at residency hotel, small room for single but neat and nice with coffee and tea making facility, professional staff and near colaba area. taj hotel and bombay gate is walkable.. i paid i think $40/night.

My own recommendation for Mumbai is The Hotel Modern - This is a really Nice little hotel, Handy for Victoria Terminus (C.S.T.), In the middle of The Fort District.
A.C. and None A.C Rooms. En-Suite Rooms, Clean and have satellite TV Prices from 600r (2007) which represents Excellent Value for Mumbai.
