More about Sahara Star Hotel
5 star Sahara Star
by smirnofforiginal about Sahara Star
Close to the domestic ariport (25 minutes by cab). The majority of residents in this hotel are business men and possibly a handful of women. The hotel is not yet complete but you wouldn't, staying there, possibly know that.
55,000sq feet set around a tropical lagoon, this is the world's largest pillar-less clear-to-sky dome. It boasts India's largest aquarium (but having seen it I would probably argue the toss over that point!)
Rooms are spotlessly clean and comfortable. Mood lighing, climate control and a whole other host of little modern wonders.
An extra bed for the room was easy to arrange.
£10 for 24 hour movies
£8 for 30 minutes of internet unless you have your own laptop with you and then £12 for a 24 hour period.
Definitely was the best place to be stranded because of a volcano, for 5 days!
Close to Vile Parle where they are lovely night markets
very practical location

i was in bombay for a personal visit in aug 2008, and happened to spend a night at sahara star adjoining the domestic airpot. i happened to fly out of bombay the next morning and the hotel was the most practical and beautifiul location around.
had a wonderful and a very comfortable night and the staff took personal interst in all the activities taking place in the hotel. it a was pleasent stay. my name is ayush singla and my jet privilege no. is 130899086.

Never never again

We stayed for six nights in February, and I would say that this is the worst "5 Star" Hotel we have stayed at. I will be short and precise -
1. Took two hours to check in as they had not allocated inter-connecting rooms and absolutely refused to do so.
2. After which we were offered smoking rooms and my husband is asthmatic.
3. We were on a tight schedule and were told that on the next day we would be given adjoining rooms, so we kept our bags ready (subsantial luggage - as we travelled alot) but the next day after coming back after a hectic day in town, no rooms had been allocated.
4. Finally after some time we were given rooms, they delivered our luggage approximately one hour later.
5. The noise from the atrium was as bad as what the previous reviews said.
6. There was a smell in the room, which I suspect was partly from the live cooking done in the atrium which came up, together with the fact that there is no fresh air coming in the hotel from anywhere.
7. I was told by the staff that there is a fault in the Earth room bathrooms as water flooded the bathroom each time we had a shower, even though we placed the shower curtain.
8. The hotel being built in a circlular way, the walk from our room to the lifts was substantial and with my elderly mother in law, she found it tiring.
9. Each time we requested something for the room it took ages, and we would have to phone a few times before we received it.
10. Despite all the problems we had initially all we got in compensation was a letter of apology from the manager togethe with some cookies.
11. Upon checkout, I was asked if my stay had been good. I told them on their face that I would never recommend this hotel to an enemy let alone a friend.
12. You could get a hotel like the Leela or the Inter-con both near the International airport at roughly the same price and much better quality.
Great Hotel

What a great hotel, we stayed on the 5th floor, so the views were great rooms were great and proximity to teh airport was great ( domestic ). Only bad thing to say was that the hotel does not do a free shuttle service to the airport something that would go a long way esp in view of the fact that i was not the olny one at reception complaining about this. Also the travel desk is very expensive. Ask the concirge to get a cool cab from outside the hotel or alternativley go to teh Orchid Hotel ( around the corner 5* ) far cheaper and more attentive with customers.
The rooms are great and the views something else. There is still building works going on...would stay here again great value for the standard of room, oh and make sure you get a room near the lifts otherwise it can be a long walk...enjoy!!!
Awesome Hotel But Expensive Food
by TripAdvisor Member involatile
I had a 13 hour layover between domestic and international flight, and this was the cheapest 5-start hotel available near the airport. I was bit worried about the bad reviews on tripadvisor. But the hotel was way better than what I expected. As soon as I landed at the domestic terminal, I saw a guy holding a placard with my name. He took my luggage and loaded them on to a Toyota Innova. The ride to the hotel was extremely short. After passing thru the hotel security I went straight to lobby. Check-in was less tan a minute and I was upgraded to a deluxe room. The room was amazing, especially the bathroom. The huge tub was just WOW. Everything seemed pretty new. 32 inch LCD tv was great, but the cable signal was bad. The balcony had a great view with nice chairs. Overall, an amazing value, even for $200 a night. There were about five restaurants inside the hotel, and like any other five star hotel, food was very expensive. I guess that's because they employ foreign chefs and all. In the evening, I noticed many older guys coming in to the hotel with pretty ladies by their side. I'm suspecting they could escorts. But that's nit the fault of the hotel. Anyway, when I checked out, the hotel bell boys did an excellent job loading my luggage into another Innova and the driver droped me off at the international airport. None of them asked for any tip, which was rather nice. I would definitely stay here again in future...
Best Hotel In Best Price
by TripAdvisor Member bondhublr
I landed at the hotel late in the evening. My check in was very smooth. The entrance in the evening looks very innovative. The lobby was could have been better. I guess they are renovating and hence the make shift lobby. The lifts cols have been better. The aisle which leads to your room could have been better maintained they are a little dusty, but nevertheless appealing. Once in the room, you would find a glass covered bathroom having every neat interiors. The bathroom has everything ranging from a tub, power shower etc. The bed was comfortable. the electronically controlled lighting was good. The balcony was smelly as it opens up in the atrium of the hotel. but could be a pleasing view, if you could bare with the live cooking counters below. The restaurants are all good being open till late around 1.30 Am. I really enjoyed my stay for the price i paid. You could consider this as a top of the line 4 star hotel and a low range 5 star. but in the price this is the best!
Convinient Place
by TripAdvisor Member SharadJunghare
I have been staying in this hotel quite regularly.
It is very close to the domestic airport and is therefore very convinient.
It's quant to get a buggy to drop you from the main entrance to the reception...and then collect your keys, go to your floor and take a long circular walk to your room.
It's nicely designed, well equipped witha very nice view through the glass window looking into the circular open court yard.
Nice eating places too and very friendly and cooperative hotel staff.
Would certainly continue to stay there.
Needless to Say why this hotel attracts so many foreigners
by TripAdvisor Member SatyaBarman
Being 5 mins walkable distance from Mumabi Airport, this hotel truely maintains it's world class standard attarcting so many foregners every day.
The only miserable part is this when I visited this hotel it was under rennovation and walk from lift to my room used to take 4 to 5 minutes which was not acceptable at the end of a hectic business day, but then you will forgive these all again when you get chance to be a part late evening musical party nights easily out there.
Open garden is good but lot of bats !! -:) Do not worry, otherwise the hotel is with Z category security.

Hi
Near Mumbai International Airport there 4 Hotels:
1) le Meridien
2) ITC grand Maratha
3) The Leela
4) Inter Continental
5) Grand Hyatt ( This one is few Km away from the Airport
Near Domestic Airport theres Sahara Star, The Orchid ......Actually Grand Hyatt is also reachable from Domestic Airport.
Just walk into any of the above mentioned top of the line Hotels and you will find your Salons......
Take care

Hi - don't know if they do the extensions or not but check with Frank Provost (http://www.franckprovost-india.com/index.htm). You can send them an email and ask. Depending on time of day, they're not too far from the airport (less than 30 minutes by rick/taxi). Happy Travels!
