Walk everywhere!
That would have to be just hanging out with my friends and meeting their family. The days where all the women sat around, the elder women played folk music and we all had mehendhi applied was very special.

Please take the local train from Andheri straight to CST. Andheri a big station, so getting in not an issue. Please note that there are separate lady compartments in the local trains. watch out for the rush when U get in and get off the train. A real experience you will cherish!!
mumbai trains are great but Stay away from rush hour as its very manic to say the least
Yes, Andheri is the station. It's a major stop on the train lines and it is absolutely packed during rush hour! The drive from the Marriott to the station should take about 15 minutes depending on traffic. Also agree about riding in the the ladies compartment. First class is for everyone so even avoid
that. You will have to purchase your tickets before boarding the train.
This is my neighborhood so if you have any questions, feel free to ask. :-) Welcome to Mumbai!
From J W Marriott hotel you need to take a autorikshaw upto Vile parle station or andheri station. Than on harbour root you will get train to CST. Or you can travel upto dadar and than change route from western line to central line and than catch another train till cst, But i think harbour route is bit tension free.

This is the southernmost part of the Peninsula, the area where Mumbai was founded from an archipelago that was filled with earth to build the core of the city on it.
Its center is the Gateway of India, at the end of the lively Apollo Bunder and the main avenue Colaba Causeway. It is a very busy area day and night, and one of the touristic centres of Mumbai.
More than a hundred years afer the defeat of the last Sassanian King, Yazdagird III, by the Arabs, a group of Zoroastrians from the Iranian province of Khorasan (ancient Parthia) decided to leave Iran because of religious persecution. They made their way south, to the port of Hormuzd on the Persian Gulf, where eventually they secured a ship to take them overseas. They sailed from Iran and landed on an island known today as Diu, near the west coast of India. They lived on that Island for 19 years, after which, they set sail once again to reach mainland India. At sea, they got caught in a fierce storm and they prayed for divine help. They promised to build an Atash Behram if Behram, the Yazata of Victory, saved them from the ferocious storm. Their wish came true and they landed safely in Gujarat, the west coast province of India.
Middle Ground is an island in Mumbai Harbour which you'll pass by on your way to Elephant Island. It is fortified and owned by the Indian Navy. For a short while, the islet was used as a naval museum. The Maharashtra government had thought of anchoring the decommissioned INS Vikrant (now a naval museum) on this island.
There is a nice view from the top of the hill. You can look down and get a good perspective on the pier as well as see some of the fishing boats at work in the surrounding waters.
