Strand Hotel

i originally booked into a rather squalid hostel type hotel by the prince of wales museum with my bare bulbed bedroom conveniently located above a throbbing mumbai disco. the next day, i was out looking for new digs. at the india gate, i met a guy who hooked me up with the strand.
my back of the house room was ok. away from the noise of the bund (it was new year's). the room was basic, all facilities worked. well with maybe the exception of the surly and officious front desk personnel. (why doesn't one learn some people skills if one is running a hotel?)
the accommodation was adequate and certainly in the middle of things. the bund is quiet in the early morning and one can stroll along the waterfront. the hotel is not really close to restaurant scene of colaba but that is ok, nothing is all that far away.
