Not just a hotel, but a monument!
Excellent attentive staff (we kept getting complimentary items with our dinner/breakfast, and were waited on by several waiters at a time)
Clean good finishing rooms
Great scenery (overlooking either the city or the Arabian Sea)
Unique Quality: This is probably THE best place to stay in Mumbai. Legend has it that the Indian founder was denied entry into the top hotel in Mumbai due to a policy of ''no dogs or indians allowed''. He swore he'd build a bigger and better hotel- and he did.
Famous leaders and celebrities stayed in the hotel, and we were lucky to stay there a month and a half after the Nov 2008 attacks on the hotel, as we got to see the amicable quality and energy in which the hotel is ran

Is it feasible to visit Taj Mahal if I'm stationed in Mumbai?

Dear Friend
Taj in Agra is quite far from Mumbai . First you have to come to Agra by Train ,or Flight ( Jaipur or Delhi ) then yopu can visit taj.
Mumbai is connected to Jaipur by Flight / Train
Jaipur - AGra ( 240 kms , 5 hrs 0
Delhi- Agra , 200 Kms , 4 hrs by bus / Train

Taj Mahal is in Agra which is near Delhi. If you are stationed in Bombay, its very far. There are trains and planes that ply between the two cities very frequently but its a lonnnnnng way from Mumbai to Agra to consider driving. The best option would be by plane to Delhi and then train/bus to Agra from there. Unless you have a lot of time to spare, even trains are not an option as it takes about a day. From Delhi you can make it as oneday trip,by car/train.Its 4 hrs by car.
