There's no need to pre-book. There's a pre-paid taxi counter just outside customs exit.

By the way, there are others.... you can try Cool Cab (usually smaller cars with A/C) - http://www.citycoolcab.in/. Meru is another company - http://www.merucabs.com/. And Star Taxi - http://www.startaxi.in/. If you use any of those, don't prepay! Someone should be waiting for you with a sign at the airport exit. I have used all 3 companies - most of the time they are good. One time, our taxi did not reach us til very late (even after several phone calls) and we missed our flight. But at least if your driver does not show up, you still have the option of using the airport's prepaid taxis. If you have alot of luggage you may want to check what size cars are available as well. Good luck!

Travel Tips for Mumbai
CROSSING the road
by MaheshSamtani
It may sound stupid, however it is very difficult to cross the crowded streets of Mumbai. Pedestrian crossings are not found at regular places. You can see many people just crossing at any any place and might even be very dangerous to do so. The best is if you could find one of the subways to get to the other side of the road. It was curious to see this subway crossing with timings and more curious to find people sitting at the upper part, probably enjoying the good climate.

Taking the Train

Learnign how to get on and off the local trains from Churchgate station was an education. I have to thank Aadil for my first lessons, afterwhich I believe I mastered the art of running and jumping, not to mention hanging out and breathing!
Although the Mumbadevi Temple...
by ashishashar
Although the Mumbadevi Temple is not as striking as others are in the city, its resident deity, Mumbadevi, is the city's patron Goddess. The structure is about six centuries old, believed to be the handiwork of Mumbaraka, a sadistic giant who frequently plundered the city at the time. Terrorized by these unwelcome visits, the locals pleaded with Lord Brahma, Creator of all things to protect them. Brahma then 'pulled out of his own body', an eight armed goddess who vanquished the brute. Predictably brought to his knees, Mumbaraka implored Her Holiness to take his name and built a temple in her honour. She still stands there, an orange faced goddess on an altar strewn with marigolds: devotees believe that those who seek her divine favour are never disappointed.

Get in touch with a local person and try to attend a Hindu wedding. Indian weddings are extremely lavish affairs. you'll be dazzled by bright colorful, good food and lovely people.
An unforgetable experience
