Hi
Do not even ATTEMPT to get a bus - and there is no shuttle that I am aware of to Colaba. The very best you should do is get a pre-paid taxi from the airport.
There is a special booth (clearly marked) PRE-PAID TAXIS- just inform them where you need to go to, pay them (probably around R300-maybe less) and they give you a voucher. This is good- there will be no haggling about price on arrival at hotel. The pre-paid taxi stand is outside exit of arrival hall.

Hi MY good friend Lynne has already replied you. It's about Rs.300 to Rs.350 from Santacruz to Colaba. Tell the name of the hotel you would be staying in.

Yes, FORGET about public transport - out here we believe that people traveling by airlines are rich, not the ones to travel by bus/shuttles/train/public transport. So, the airport has been found unworthy of deserving services of the above.

Take the pre-paid cabs - even several of us locals prefer to do that despite the ugly charges of the pre-paid. You have to choose between AC or non-AC.

BOOK AIR TICKETS ATLEAST 3-5 MONTHS IN ADVANCE if you intend to travel DURING PEAK VACATION TIME..I make this recommendation out of personal experience.Air tickets should be booked as soon as possible in order to confirm availability, especially while travelling to India during the months of JULY-AUGUST and DECEMBER

Your friendly neighbourhood beauty parlour

This little barber cum shaving parlour caught my eye I just had to take a photo of it. Look at how pleased the barber is smiling for the camera and his customer desperately trying to look my way while he's got foam all over his face...LOL! Loves it!

Entry to the Caves

by keeweechic

The caves are dedicated to Shiva. Entry into the solid basalt rock caves (or Shiva Temple) is by the northern entrance. Stairs lead into a large hall. The carvings in on the walls of the caves show Shiva in various shapes and in different moods. A guide will help explain all the detail to you which you would normally miss. My guide was very informative but a one on one tour had be very exhausting mentally when so much history and detail is gone into. However I would not have realised a lot had it not been explained.
