Temple City of India
"Temples temples everywhere!"
Bhubaneswar, the capital of Orissa, is one city where you will trip upon temples after temples of Lord Shiva. Apparently this city housed more than 2000 temples in the past, many of which are still around. It is an extremely humid city, to the extent that my shoes we fungus filled as I had left them unused for 3 days! Ofcourse, I made the mistake of visiting this city during the monsoons when catching a ray of sun light seems impossible! What variety in the climes within India! In Bangalore we never see such extremes of any weather!
"Places to see"
You must visit the Lingraj temple in the heart of the city, any auto driver will take you there. This apart there are 2 hills around with many caves that form places of worship for Jain Monka. I vaguely remember mention of a cacti garden which I didn't visit.
"Shopping"
Do shop for the Ikkat/Tie and Dye sarees that orissa is famous for in the market, head to Priyadarshini for a good price
