Other Customs
by MikeySoft
One custom is eating the sweet past inside the Golden Temple Complex. I was offered it several times and finally tried it at the Golden Temple in the center of the pond.
An additional custom was to drink some of the water from the pond. I know people swim it in and it may not be the most sanitary thing, but again I did it after several people was telling me about the custom. I did it incorrectly. I put some in my palm and leaned over the pond as I drank it. They told me I would not lean over the pond as I drank, Again this was at the Golden Temple in the center of the pond.
Please rate this tip and my others if you find them interesting, useful, or like the photos. Thanks

Golden Temple is a living symbol of the spiritual and historical traditions of the Sikhs.
Visitors must remove their shoes and cover their heads before entering the temple. The temple is less crowded in the early mornings on weekends.
Taran taran
by mallyak
Gurudwara Taran Taranis located at a distance of 25 kilometers south of Amritsar. Just like Dukh Bhanjani Beri in Golden Temple, the Sarovar in this Gurudwara also possess healing powers. As the folklore goes, it is believed that any Leper who can swim across the Tank will be miraculously cured. The Tank is large so Parikrama (walking along the tank or pool with incantation) takes some time.
Gurudwara Taran Taran has a yellow building next to the west entrance that provides free accommodation to the pilgrims. Every half-hour from the main bus stand you can get bus to Tarn Taran.
Maharaja Ranjit Singh got a temple erected in the town of Tarn Taran. Every Amavas (night with no moon) fairs are held at the Temple
Golden Temple - clock towers and gateways
by Willettsworld
The whole Golden Temple complex is surrounded on all four sides by buildings and gateways. The main gateway on the northern side was first built in 1862 and features a Victorian style clock when the complex was under British control. This clock tower was pulled down in 1926 after the complex came back under Sikh control and the currently structure built. For symmetry, the southern side was also built. The northen gateway is where you gain access into the Sikh Museum.
