Hotel Castle Bijaipur: Bijaipur, Rajasthan
There are no restaurants/shops/chaiwallahs in this tiny town. You are therefore at the mercy of the hotel's kitchen ~ our lunch consisted of bananas, toast and french fries. . .no kidding. :-P
The hotel will arrange though, a drive into the surrounding countryside where you can check out some farmsteads. They will also arrange entertainment (music and dance) in the evening.
The limitations on what we could do on our own didn't suit me, but other guests seemed to enjoy it ~ so you should weigh your own preferences.

Hotel Castle Bijaipur: Bijaipur, Rajasthan
About ten years ago, this castle was converted into a heritage hotel. . .the building and rooms are superbly decorated. It's very atmospheric. . .but it is also very remote (15 km to Bassi, which is not much bigger, and 25km from Chittorgarh, which usually merits a mention in guidebooks).
