Nice big clean rooms, large closets and LCD tvs, and couches in the room - it had all we needed for a comfortable 3 days. The food is excellent and the Owner brothers are very eager for feedback on how to improve. It was January but we took a dip in the pool anyway, the first ones in the new pool. Thanks to ramvur
Food and Rooms
Seriously, Rough Guides was not kidding when they said this place is run by extremely friendly brothers. Specifically, Arun. I arrived late at night and came to the place without a reservation (which is what you do when you are not sure in India). Arun said their budget rooms were full but one deluxe was available. Since it was out of my bracket, I told him and he recommended another nearby place. My rickshaw guy lost track and I call Arun to confirm the directions. He tells me to just come back to his place and he is waiting outside when I arrive again. He gives me the deluxe room at the same budget price! Not only that, it was his own room that he gave!!! Seriously, who does that?! When you leave the place, they wave goodbye at the gate to each guest!!
My only regret is not giving a much fatter 'tip' for his kindness at my departure.
If you need other reasons to stay here, then it is a 5 minute walk away from your prime reason to be here: Keoladeo Ghana National Park. The rooms are very clean and so is the entire place. Very quiet. They have a dining area so you will not need to go anywhere for your meals. The server/porter/cook of the place is a very curious and alright fellow too; with three roles you can understand why he takes so long to prepare your meals. The elder brother of Arun is a guide at the park so that's another plus if you seek one. If you call in advance, they can pick you and drop you off from the train or bus station.
Prices are as low as they get. A budget room with hot water is Rs300 and checkout is 10 am.
I can say without bias that you will not find a better place to stay at Bharatpur.
The best hotel I stayed in during my 1-month trip. (01-02/2008, budget hotels only). Room was large enough, above-average cleanliness, hot shower whenever needed and sufficient protection against mosquitos and that all for Rs 300,- (Double-room)
Situated in a beautifull garden, friendly helpfull owner, tasty kitchen, 5 min with cyclo-riksha to the entrance of Keoladeo NP. Really recommendable!
The hotel Pratap Palace provide a perfect base for those who love Nature. A/C and Non A/C Rooms need and clean.
Swmming Pool, Krishans Resturant.
This is a clean, well-run hotel. It is right near the Keoladeo Bird Sanctuary ~ which makes for a very convenient visit.
I'm not a big bird watcher, but I enjoyed this national park as much as the others that I visited. . .we saw wild dogs, an enormous python and lots of surprisingly colourful and interesting birds.
