Haveli Uma Megh: Heritage Haveli!

This is a beautiful old haveli, apparently one of the oldest in the town, having been built around 500 years ago, and is situated on the edge of the lake. There's a lovely little garden to the rear, containing not only seating to have breakfast or dinner, but the family's temple as well.

Our room was on the ground floor, and while simple was very comfortable and had a private bathroom. We paid 200r a night in April 2009. The brothers who ran the hotel were very pleasant and kind.

kasera heritage view haveli: good view of fort

This little guest house, which is a very old haveli that has been converted and re-furbished, is ideally situated below the palace and fort, was really good value. The rooms were a good size- comfortable bed , good tiled bathroom (with hot water) and everything was spotlessly clean. Designed in typical haveli style, with a central open courtyard, the five story building has many stairs- the view is worthwhile. Stained Glass windows reflect colour beautifully in all rooms.
Laundry service is available, and meals served at rooftop restuarant. The food was not fancy, but wholesome and tasty. Breakfast is included inthe cost.
The young couple who own Kasera Heritage View are pleasant, and we had no problems whatsoever. They also own two other guest houses in Bundi. Onward travel arrangements can be made through them.

Unique Quality: We loved the quaint little rooftop restaurant/bar- it has the most magnificent view over Bundi, and of the palace and fort. Snacks are served all day, and full meals at dinnertime. It got rather festive every night- all the guests, and usually some extras as well, would gather, have a meal and end up chatting for hours. We could watch the sun setting, and see millions of bats flying overhead, heading for their nests somewhere above in the recesses of the fort.
I also loved the traditional art work in the rooms- the paintings were probably done by local artists (Bundi is famous for art-work). The room was a riot of colour, and the black and white marble tiled floors are very attractive.

Lake View Paying Guesthouse: Great stay close to the Palace

We had a great stay in a beautiful double room at the Lakeview Guesthouse. Well, the lake of Naval Sagar was nearly dried out during our time, but from our terrace you had a fantastic view on the Palace, too. Price was 200 Rupees.
