From Jaipur to Cochin

by BonzoandBiggi

Hi,

We are traveling to Jaipur in November - as third leg of the Golden triangle of course.

From Jaipur we want to get to Cochin. Ideally we would fly but there doesn't seem to be any direct flights. Can anyone suggest the best way to get to Cochin? Via Mumbai perhaps , or Delhi?

Many Thanks

Bonzo.

Fastest wld be to return to Delhi after you complete the Golden Triangle and then fly straight to Cochin.

You will probably have to connect on this route--Bombay and Delhi are the most obvious points. Flying within India is very cheap right now since there are a number of new airlines, and they are all trying to beat their way into the market by offering very low-priced tickets. Many of them can be booked online. Try airlines such as Air Deccan, Paramount, Kingfisher Air, Spice Jet, Sahara, and Jet Airways along with the state carrier, Indian Airlines.

Travel Tips for Jaipur

City Palace II - The Maharajah's Travel Canteen

by pchamlis

Perhaps I could have entitled this tip "the original bottled water", or perhaps "be careful to not drink the local water when you're traveling". One of the more interesting things that were on display in the City Palace were a pair of gigantic silver water urns. Each one was capable of carrying some 8000 liters of water. They were produced at the direction of the maharajah before a 1902 trip abroad. His plan was to take along his own water for his journey.

I don't believe his intent was to have a safe water supply, I think it was more a case of being afraid of not having ANY water, especially as he traveled into Asia Minor.

These were certainly impressive water vessels, and I'd hate to be responsible for keeping them polished. But then, if you're the maharajah I am sure that you have "people" to take care of that sort of issue. After I took my photo of the Maharajah's glorious silver water urn, I noticed that there is a shiny reflection of ME on its surface. So, let's call this one my very special pchamlis self-portrait in silver. :)

Travelling in style

We travelled up the hill to Amber Palace in style - sitting in a howdah atop an elephant. It was surprisingly comfortable, but the ride was wobbly, and the edge was uncomfortably near - the drop was 50 feet to the ground below!

Rajasthan roadways run a regular service of AC and Deluxe Coaches from Delhi . Jaipur can be accessed from all the major places in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Delhi and Mumbai by bus. Delhi 265 kms, Agra 250 kms, Udaipur 374kms.

Tiger fort. Relax above the city.

by Terje1966

Get a taxi to drive you up to Tiger fort and wait for you. Take a quick guided tur. Negotiate price for both taxi and guide in advance. When you are finished you can relax on the fort`s walls overlooking the city of Jaipur. From up there the big city seems so quiet and peaceful and you can see eagles and squirrels and goats grazing in the hillside above Jaipur.

elephant ride

by Hui-Hui

It's a kind of entertainment to take a elephant ride to Amber fort. The back of elephant is flat and the walk of elephant is stable, so the ride is very comfortable. By the way as the ride is high, we have a complete panorama of a nearby town. a lack and hill.

On the way to the amber fort, foreign tourists would be taken pictures by some photographers. When tourists are going to leave the amber fort, they would show you some new-developed pictures. You could just take the picture (s) which you take interest. One picture costs only 1 USD.
