Madhuban Hotel

by saadimonkey

Does anyone have any experience of the Madhuban hotel. It appears to have a good website but I can find little other information on the net.

Your comments will be much appreciated!

I stayed at the Madhuban in December 2004 and I recommend it highly. It's in a nice residential area. Rooms are good-sized, well appointed, and clean. The restaurant is excellent. For more see my Jaipur pages, specifically:

I stayed at Madhuban for one night in February. It's a pretty good midrange hotel: nice clean room, quiet, location a little out of the way but that gets it away from the clamor of downtown. Food was average and staff were a little surly.

We then stayed for 5 nights at Jas Vilas (which we had previously booked). Same price range and similar location, but better food, staff & service.

Scaffolding

by grets

I was really taken by the scaffolding this man is sitting on to reapint the walls of the Chandra Mahal pink. It looks very precarious and perilous, but I am sure it is every bit as safe as the steel constructed scaffolding we have back home.

Jaipur Train Station

by BluBluBlu

I arrived from Agra at about 8pm...and was amazed to see the entire concourse covered in people! They had all bedded down for the night, and I had to negotiate a route through them. The Manager of the Jaipur Inn told me that many were professional...such as bank clerks...who lived in outlying towns...and used the station to save hotel costs!

elephants in all shapes and sizes, tourists with cameras clicking non stop, music and dance, elephant rides thru the city as the procession got underway.... It happened to coincide with the festival of `holi' this year...

The observatory- Jantar Mantar

by uglyscot

This is the largest and best of the 5 observatories in India. It was built by Sawai Jai Singh II (1699-1744) around 1728-34. At the time, it was the most accurate and advanced observatory, and the best astrological guide. He himself had a 'deep and perfect ' knowledge of astronomy.
This observatory has 18 different instruments for measuring such things as: Polar Star, Celestial latitude and longitude, position of planets, solar and lunar eclipses, altitude of heavenly bodies, zenith, distance and declination to name but a few,.

The site is open from 9am- 4.30 pm. The entry fee is 100 rupees.
