Local Custom
by l_joo
Don't know whether this can be considered as a local custom tip? Look at the traffic here, look how they learn to drive here. You should be able to see they have something written very big at the back of big vehicles "Horn Please". Everybody enjoy their horn, I horn you, you horn me, a local custom.
Sari's and fabric
by j-san
All over Jaipur you can buy lovely fabrics with bright colorful handprinted designs. There are these larger emporiums, airconditioned where you get served a nice cold drink while you are shown fabrics. Beyond my budget and I explained this to the salesperson. However they still insisted I try it on, and there was no real pressure to buy.
Majestic

The Amber Fort Palace is 11km from Jaipur and a must visit. It is a massive complex with a lot to see. You can hire a guide outside the palace for a small fee. (If you want, you can ride to the entrance of the Fort on an elephant.)
It is a magnificent building well worth a visit for a few hours.
All the concepts of India

Riding an elephant uphill seems a cliche for tourists. And it is. But it really helps feeling the ambience and plunging deeper in India.
I had a personal experience in Fort Amber... well... I describe it in a Travelogue. But the fort, going up by elephant, on foot, or by helicopter, is something no one can miss.
Jai Mahal, the lake palace
by georeiser
Jai Mahal is the lake palace on the road between Jaipur and Amber Fort. It's looks beautiful in the middle of Man Sagar Lake. All guided tours from Jaipur to Amber Fort stops at this place so you can take your photos. However it is not possible go inside the building, and no people lives there.
