Luxury and History in one Hotel

3 nights as part of a group. Had a double twin bed. Great service, polite staff and good food, even if the property restaurants were very pricey. Love landscaping and decorations. Comfortable bed and room had adaptors and converters. Nice business center and wifi (for a small fee.)

Unique Quality: Loved the decorations in the lobby as well as in the bedroom. It is an old palace, so it is very special and well cared for. Nice grounds!

One of Jaipur's best

Run by the luxury Taj Group, Jai Mahal Palace is set in a stunning 18th century palace within vast Mughal-style gardens. The palace is beautifully renovated and tastefully furnished with local touches. It has several restaurants, a spa, an outdoor pool and all other amenities of a five-star hotel. Peacocks roam the gardens in the early morning among other birds and squirrels. Every day, in the early evening, an interesting folk dance show and a miniature bazaar are set up for guests to give a taste of local Rajput culture. Staying at Jai Mahal definitely enhances the Jaipur experience.

faded grandeur

We arrived tired after a long road trip from Agra to find ourselves booked into the Jaipur Suite opening onto a verandah overlooking the hotel gardens. Imagine a lobby, bathroom which was shabby, bedroom, sitting room whose seat covers were grubby, dining room and a small annex with a swing- for two people; and it was to cost us an arm and a leg to pay for it [$350 a night each , breakfast not included].

Breakfast is eaten at The Marble Arch restaurant, sitting on the terrace with two musicians playing drum and stringed instrument in a small pavillion on the lawn.

Unique Quality: Musical entertainment accompanies the evening meal and goes on till quite late, and again is playing at breakfast.
The gardens are vast and pleasant for an early morning stroll. It was one of the few hotels on our trip to present us with a garland round our necks, and a red spot on our foreheads on arrival.

The real maharaja-feeling

The Jai Mahal Palace was constructed in the 18th century as a residence for a Prime Minister of Rajastan. The socalled "Havelis" are somewhat smaller than the real maharaja-palaces have been (but large enough with about 100 rooms). Many of them have been refurbished and transferred into "Heritage Hotels".
The hotel offers ample space in its large guestrooms, nice recreational facilities, a large outdoor pool and many terrasses and sitting-facilities in its gardens. The Mahal.Restaurant serves Indian, continental and Chinese food.

Unique Quality: Large rooms, ample of space and very nice gardens. The right place to stay, if you don`t mind long ways to the rooms and lobby !
The Moghul gardens spread over 3 levels complete with waterways (depicting the life of the lotus) and stone pathways. The garden is visible from almost all rooms and public areas. The pool is solar heated

Great stay at Jai Mahal Palace

by TripAdvisor Member PJ9

Stayed here in February with wife and two teenage sons. Hotel was excellent and got the seal of approval from the two boys as best hotel they stayed at in India - which is quite an endorsement as we stayed in a lot and all 5 & 4 star. Rooms were large, bright and clean with large plasma screen TVs. Both of ours had doors opening onto a small grass patio overlooking the grounds. The look of the Hotel and its gardens is impressive - even more so at night when it is all lit up. There were a couple of weddings on at the rear of the Hotel whilst we were there - worth going along and having a look, huge colourful events. Found the restuarants fine, a good wide choice
and food good particularly the outdoor pizzeria. Also found the service first class - very helpful and attentive. Yes it is a coverted Palace but it has been considerably converted (still very nice) - if its an authentic Palace you are after then try the Samode Palace (about 30 minutes away). Jaipur is a great city, worth spending some time in and this Hotel is a good place to make your base.

Jai Mahal Palace Rajasthan "Absolutely magnificent!"

by TripAdvisor Member latin7

Hi,

We have just returned from a week at the Jai Mahal. The palace is magnificent and we have never experienced such incredible service before.

The Spa is out of this world. It greatly combines ancient Indian traditions with western therapies. We took Rajasthan ubtan that certainly melt our stress after a long day of traveling.

Overall I would say this is probably the best palace we have ever stayed in on holiday and I am extremely fussy. You can also book you stay at Jai Mahal just log on to [----]

Good choice!

by TripAdvisor Member LeslieScottsdaleAZ

Stayed at Jai Mahal Palace in December 2006 for 3 nights. After getting used to the over-the-top entrance and decor, we really came to love it.... You will get good and bad reviews of this hotel, and indeed the guide books don't highly recommend it. However, we loved the colorful and comfortable rooms, the Sikh doorman on horses, the kind of campy and fun atmosphere (there was always something going on, like weddings or events). We went to see its sister hotel, the Taj Rambagh Palace (for lunch) and were very happy to return to the slightly less expensive Jai Mahal, and indeed I would definitely return there on any future visit to Rajasthan.

Service was so-so, but the travel desk was excellent and really helped us a lot with shopping, excursions, reservations, etc.

I think this is a great choice for those who cannot afford the Oberoi.

Where can I stay in Jaipur

by ThomasJeans

Hi guys,
I am confused about the accommodation in Jaipur, I do not know if there are some reasonable hotels to stay in Jaipur, I am going to stay there about 5 days for a business trip.
Hopefully that you can show me a hotel that you have already known about it

If you're not looking for inexpensive or a business hotel, I'd recommend the Samode Haveli. We stayed in the Sheesh Mahal suite which was really amazing but the whole propery and the other rooms are really nice as well. http://www.samode.com/ Hope you enjoy Jaipur - one of my favorite Indian cities!
