Narain Niwas was built in 1928 by General Amar Singh, Thakur of Kanota designed in Anglo-Indian style unforgettable experience of the princely Rajput & Rajasthani culture.Decorated with ethnic Indian furnishings, coupled with Rajput flourishing and traditional Jaipur-style painted wall décor in a typically bold color palette. When you see the exquisitely decorated walls and ceilings that are fully covered with frescoes and paintings. The rooms are king size high ceiling in old style.
Unique Quality: Swimming pool, green garden and courtyard good resturant for meel.
I originally booked this hotel for 5 nights via friends in Jaipur who advised me that it represented great value and a "traditional" Rajasthan former palace. I am glad I took their advice.
The staff are very friendly and the grounds are well kept. I would definitely recommend the Narain - I even booked another 4 nights when I returned to Jaipur after travelling for a week.
One word of caution - Don't count on receiving a gourmet breakfast - very, very basic.
Unique Quality: The hotel has a great air of charm about it, although it could do with some minor refurbishment. The hotel hosts traditional Rajasthan music every night and you can dine outside while you watch it. However, I recommend that you pack a jumper if you are there in November, as it did get cooler at night.
can any body tell what are places in Jaipur whioch are scenic and their historical value.

For the last few days, I have been looking at cities in Rajasthan.
VT has several pages devoted to Jaipur and on other cities in Rajasthan, you will find alot of information you are looking for if you do a search for Jaipur destinations.
Enjoy !
The Hawa Mahal (Wind Palace) The City Palace and the Amber Fort are the most interesting places to see in Jaipur. Unfortantely when we were there, there was a strike on (by the street-cleaners)so the streets were filled with muck,we left earlier on account of this...We statyed at Narain Niwas Hotel, which was clean, attractive & comfortable. Jodhpur is however, really a great place to see. My pages on India have some pics
