Henna paintings

by nepalgoods

Women like to have beautiful Henna- paintings on their hands.
Many of the designs are almost forgotten. But you can see them in the local museum.
This woman was a Indian tourist visiting the Maharaja Palace.

Rajasthan Textile Emporium

by georeiser about Rajasthan Textile Emporium

Rajasthan Textile Emporium is located on the road between Pink city and downtown. It easy to visit the place. The prices are really cheap. The salesmen in Jaipur are experts, so remember to bargain well. Start with a disgracefully low offer, but do it with a smile. If you need handbags, clothes or other textiles, you will find it in Rajasthan Textile Emporium.

Hawa Mahal- the wind palace

by uglyscot

This beautiful building is in the main street. It was built by Maharaja Sawal Pratap Singh in 1799 to allow his harem to watch the busy comings and goings of the town bazaar, instead of being shut behind four walls all day, as was normal at that time for Muslim women. It is built in Rajput style.
We were not able to go inside, and were assured there was nothng to be seen. Looking from outside is free!

Amber Fort

by Hind_S

This is a beautiful fort and a great example of Rajput architecture. Its a steep climb up a hill which you can do on elephant.. I didn't because it was very hot and I've recently developed an irritating fear of heights.

Take a knowledgeable tour guide along with you, its well worth it. The fort is quite large, with many different halls all with great stories and interesting architectural details.

My favourites were the Sheesh Mahal for its beauty and the womens apartments for the 'interesting' layout and stories.

Too much to go into detail here, just go! Trust me.

once a palace is now a tourist spot and hotel

by otikim

The Rambagh Palace in Jaipur, Rajasthan is the former residence of the Maharaja of Jaipur and now a luxury Taj Palace Hotel, located 5 miles outside of the walls of the city of Jaipur on Bhawani Singh Road. Yet is a hotel, it is also a beautiful place to visit because of the unique architecture present in the place.
