Travel Tips for Jaisalmer

Camel cleaners

by herzog63

I noticed quite often when we would stop for our breaks that birds would come and land on the camels and pick out bugs? from the hair of the camel. I couldn't see any bugs when I looked closely at the camel but the birds seemed to be enjoying something. The camels enjoyed it too as they didn't jump around or try to make the birds go away.

Packing list for camel trek

by Willettsworld

Take as little as possible on your camel trek. I went on a 2-day trek and took my small day pack with the following things:

1. Camera (essential)
2. Water bottle - water is provided
3. Torch - there's no light at your overnight stop. Also helps your guide out as well.
4. Toiletries
5. Another change of clothes (especially if going on a 3-day trek)
6. Warm top (as it gets a little cool at night)
7. Cushions to sit on whilst on the camel
8. Any snack food (although we were well fed)

Camel trek

by munki

The desert experience without a doubt would be one of the highlights of your trip to India and something that will stay in your memory forever. Saying that, it is very hard work for tourists from non-developing countries and some people (not me) will miss the comforts of the civilized world and will find the camel seats too uncomfortable or the basic food too primitive to digest.

Junction Palace- Flies Away

by abi_maha about Junction palace

Too many flies in this place for our liking, the only reason we went here is beacause it came as complimentary with our Room in Hotel Milan. However we didn't repeat the mistake twice. Poor service, good food, too many flies!

by Luchonda

Jaisalmer - close to the Pakistani border and in the middle of the Thar Desert.
The buildings are unique - witness of old India and transit station to the western world.
Caravans of jewels - silk and speceries made this part of India rich - a long time ago !
