Four tries and a hit!!!!
To say that this hotel was the worst of our trip to India would be a lie, but it does run a very close second. At the hotel reception at check-in we were kept waiting for 20 minutes while the gentleman on the desk was on the telephone, even though there were two other men there doing nothing, perhaps waiting his instructions ? After waiting and obviously being pests for wanting to check-in, we were given keys to two rooms. Immediately we had three boys picking up our luggage and hinting to follow them. We walked through the grassy section to the far end of the compound and up to the 1st floor, although we had booked supposedly a cottage!!! On entering the rooms we noted stains on the pillow cases and then turning down the sheets more ink stains on the undersheet, this in both rooms except the ink in one. In both rooms the sofa had a worn throw on it also covered with indescribable stains. After ranting a while, one ran off and brought back more keys and took us along the landing to see a couple more rooms. They were in the same condition although the stains were becoming less and less obvious as to their nature. More ranting, and another boy turned up with more keys and hinted that we should follow him. We walked all the way back until we came to what looked more like cottage rooms, which turned out to be very clean and habitable. When asked why we had walked past these to go to the others I was granted several shrugs. On going back to reception to try to clear things up a little I was rewarded with two different people behind the desk, so I finished up by leaving it.
We did have a decent sleep after that until 5.00 AM when the water lorry turned up and began pumping water for the hotel rooms into a reservoir next to the kitchen and just opposite our rooms....end of sleep. Turned out that the breakfast was almost as bad as the rest.
I've slept in some crappy places throughout Africa, but never with dirty linen in the beds, and not having to pay 36€ for the pleasure either.
Unique Quality: None whatsoever.
