THE ABSOLUTE LAP OF LUXURY

I wish I could say that I had stayed at this very new, very luxurious and very expensive hotel.
Alas- we only visited it, had lunch there and an extensive tour of it. It is owned by a relative of a friend of ours in Udaipur.
Not quite finished being built, Bollywood had taken it over for 2 weeks for a film shoot while we were there. I guess that this hotel will be a popular venue for weddings.
It has, in a word, everything one could ask for. Besides its fantastic situation, perched high on a hill and overlooking Udaipur, the Lake and Arravelli hills, its ameneties are extensive.
The rooms have LCD TV's bars and safes.The furnishings are dark wood, and of the finest quality. The beds are gigantic. Bathrooms have double wash-basins,baths and showers, and mirrored walls. Even the bathrooms have views, while sitting in the tub.
The reception area and main lounges were created by transplanting stone pillars and marble from a nearby abandoned palace/fort-hence giving it a Renaissance look and heritage feel.It works wonderfully well.The actual architecural style is hard to classify- but suggests Mughal influence, with a touch of Rajput. We were told that it is "Heritage Renaissance" by the on-site architect. Entrance to the Fateh Garh is through two guarded gates leading up a winding pathway to the spacious lobby. The larger than life gates are original recycled doorways & most of the wood used at Fateh Garh is old recycled thereby causing no adverse impact on the environment.
The Dining area is situated next to the pool.

The pool area is magnificent- white tiled and surrounded by tasteful carved statues.
As I have mentioned- we did not stay here. But if the service at Fateh Garh is as good as it was in the dining-room, the high cost of staying here is justified.The staff have obviously had expert training.
