Hi there ... Udaipur is a cool little town to visit, in June the weather is usually very hot, could be in the high 30 degrees celcius and wet as during monsoon season. Say that though, i went in July 2008 and was hot, low 30's with no rain.

Yes- it WOULD be ok to visit in June- although as previously stated, hot & may be a bit wet. The last few years the monsoon has not been strong in Udaipur- also unpredictable regarding as to when it will arrive.
Have you considered traveling by train between these destination? We frequently visit Udaipur, where I have a number of good friends- and I must confess that I think the roads are very dangerous, busy and not always easy to drive. Especially as you have your children with you.

My personal opinion is NO- driving in Rajasthan is pretty- but roads are deathtraps. We have traveled with an experienced Indian driver- he was a good driver, by the way- and I had a few nervous breakdowns. The road rules are- NO RULES. There is no reason why you cannot get a train from Agra. Many pass through en route to Rajasthan from there.

Public Schools in India

by atufft

On many occasions we saw uniformed school children on the street, heading to or from school. The literacy rate in India is remarkably high, at nearly 70%, given the tremendous problems of poverty there. Interestingly, there are more university graduates in India than there are people in the United States, a fact that should spell warning for complacent American college students. These graduates receive a far small salary, but are actually quite well trained, especially in some technical fields. In Udaipur, we saw a school.

Highest in the area

by Willettsworld about Lake View Hotel restaurant

I met up with a couple of Canadian girls over breakfast one morning and we got talking about visiting Ranakpur and Kumbalgarh. I mentioned about the possibility of hiring a car and driver for the day and then met up with them at their hotel (the Hotel Lake View) when we went on the day trip. The hotel features one of the highest restaurants in the area so you can get a good view over the lake and Lake Palace Hotel at night and, of course, they show Octopussy every night! Had a good tandorri chicken and Aloo Mutter (potato & pea curry) here.

Visit the city palace

by schlumpf

The city palace is the symbol of Udaipur, and it is also the biggest Palace ever build up in the whole India.
The view you get from the side is very beautifull, moreover if there is enought wather all around...
The architecture is a very nice one, and once you are in Udaipur you can not definitely miss it.
