Fateh Prakash Palace Hotel

by written on June 11, 2006

Fateh Prakash Palace is part of the City Palace complex and is listed as a Grand Heritage Palace. It was named after one of the greatest rulers of the Mewar’s dynasty, Maharana Fateh Singh (1884-1934). The palace is a grand styled hotel full of antique furniture, original paintings and unique crockery and crystal collections. Each of the 31 rooms and suites at the Fateh Prakash Palace Hotel is also decorated with original portraits and period furniture, some of which have been in the family for generations.

Unique Quality: There are two restaurants. The Gallery restaurant provides a genuine mix cuisine of continental as well as offering nearly all varieties of English teas. The other restaurant is the terrace restaurant The hotel facilities are Swimming Pool, Billiards, Squash, Boating, Bird and Wildlife Watching, Internet Surfing (on request), Crystal Gallery and Holistic Health Treatment.

Royal treatment

Best (5.0 of 5.0 stars)

Udaipur’s city palace is probably the place one would like to stay in. The only competition is the lake palace but the view of it is even better than staying there (sounds a bit like the fox and the sour grape). In brief, it is the place to be in Udaipur. The only slightly tricky part is that I almost got killed there – royally. During fireworks one faulty cartridge shot in the inner court yard instead of in the sky and almost hit the anti-mosquito gas lamp. Sometimes you never know – ways to die can be as exotic as the destination you are in.

Unique Quality: Great views of the lake and surrounding hills. Quiet and exoticly stylish room. Best Indian shower experience.

Fateh Prakash Palace-Great place to stay!!

I stayed at the Fateh Prakesh for 2 nights on my last trip to India. It was a charming room that really made you feel like you were in a palace. The hotel is located conviently right next to the city palace so you have easy access to everything in Udaipur. The food was nothing special but the breakfast was solid and offered a good variety.

The Fateh Prakash Palace or the City palace hotel... Located on the banks of Lake Pichole and once home to the Maharaja of Udaipur, is operated today by the royal family as a luxury hotel.

The shimmering beauty, A grand Palace

by written on September 5, 2002

Classified as a Grand Heritage Palace, the imposing lakeside Fateh Prakash Palace recapitulates royal traditions and lifestyles in its antique furniture, original paintings and opulent interiors. Its serene premises and picturesque views of Lake Pichola, Jagmandir Island Palace, Lake Palace and the Sajjangarh Fort, promise a soothing break from the rigors of city life. The magnificent Durbar Hall, the exclusive Gallery Restaurant and the dazzling Crystal Gallery complete the royal repertoire of unparalleled experiences at Fateh Prakash Palace.

Traditional Mewari hospitality coupled with efficient service adds to the pleasure of a holiday at Fateh Prakash Palace. While at the Fateh Prakash Palace, one can completely embrace Palace life and explore the enormous Palace Complex, including the Shiv Niwas Palace.

Each suite at Fateh Prakash Palace is decorated with original portraits and period furniture, which have been in the family for generations. The recently opened Dovecote wing has all the rooms facing Lake Pichola. Each room has been designed to give maximum comfort and a sweeping view of the lake with the Jagmandir Island Palace and Lake Palace.

Unique Quality: Built in the turret, an octagonal room with sit-in windows overlooking Lake Pichola.

Terrace that gives a breathtaking view of the Aravalli Hills and the private residence of His Highness (Shambhu Niwas Palace).
