RE: weather

Should be fine, monsoon is over by that time. It might still be kind of hot though. I am in Rajasthan now and the weather is pretty much perfect.

september and october always plesant in Rajasthan although nights are cool.Since the sand of Rajasthan gets hot in sun light and gets cool in the nights. It is similar to common Indian temperament too as indians are easy to get angry and quickly cool down too.

Travel Tips for Udaipur

The Sisodia Dynasty

by josephescu

The Sisodias dynasty rules Udaipur, and claim their descent from Lord Rama, the hero of the famous Hindu epic Ramayana. It is also said that the group descended from the Sun God and is thus known as the Suryavanshi or Children of Sun. The prince of Mewar is treated as the legitimate heir to the throne of Rama. The earliest history of the clan calims that the group had probably descended from the Central Asian tribes who had moved from Kashmir to Gujarat in the 6th century.

The sisodians also claim to be one of the oldest ruling dynasties in the world, spanning 76 generations.

Small and cool prizes to take home

by GJapan

When walking toward the city palace In Udaipur you'll see a small alley on the left. It's quite steep and is the last side street before the city palace. Go down the street and it'll run directly into a very small workshop/shop. Take some time to look at the unusal pendants for slae and talk with the artist. He's a very friendly very talented guy who makes unusual gifts that are small and easy to carry when backpacking and traveling around. I bought several as prensents for people at home and everyone loved them. I was staying with a large volunteer group in Bedla outside Udaipur and many of us found great deals here.

Folk Images of the Aravalli Range

by atufft

During the drive through to Ranakpur, we stopped in places to watch the peasant Indians thresh their grain, juice, or boil sugar cane. The implements used are no doubt the same as have been used for hundreds of years.

folk museum!

by pakwan

Udaipur Folk Museum is where lies the virtual kaleidoscope to the heritage of this princely Rajput city. Look out for paintings, dolls, masks, musical instruments, dresses and the puppet show held almost regularly. It is a great place to visit for a historical or traditional vacation.

The Suraj Gokhada

by keeweechic

Suraj Gokhada is the balcony of the sun. This is where the Suryavanshi Maharanas of Mewar offered themselves to the people when times were tough to try and restore their confidence and to show that Surya was still smiling on them. This was also where at dawn they greeted their ancestor, the Sun god Surya.
