Beautiful with great views

Best (5.0 of 5.0 stars)

Though I booked in June for a late October stay, no deluxe room was available for my first night. I was put, instead, into a standard with no view -- no window to the outside at all -- and with doorways, to the bathroom and cloak room, that were barely five (5) feet high.

I was moved on my second day to a deluxe room with a bit more space and spectacular views. The monetary difference: from US$30 to US$100.

Service at Jagat Niwas Palace Hotel is superb. The interior of the hotel is like something out of the 'Thousand and One Nights.'

Unique Quality: Views.

The restaurant, where I ate all my meals in Udaipur, was among the best I've sampled in India.

Directions: Walking around Udaipur I often found myself lost, unable to locate the hotel on first try. More walking I always stumbled upon it. Tuk-tuk and taxi drivers have no problem getting to the place.

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)

Beautiful! It was the best place where we stayed in India, the city is very nice, and the hotel was perfect, specially the roof terrace and the restaurant both of them facing the lake and the lake palace.
Everything was very clean, and the patio of the hotel very nice, full of plants, and flowers everywhere, the staff very friendly, what else you can ask for?!?!
The location is great, you can walk around through the little narrow streets full of shops selling handcrafts, we have one thing very clear and it´s that if we go back to Udaipur, hopefully we will, we´ll stay at tha Jagat Niwas

Jagat Niwas Palace Hotel

Jagat Niwas Palace Hotel is a 17th Century old ‘Haveli’ which has 29 rooms which have been restored back to their old charm. The hotel is right on the Lake front and is surrounded by a cluster of havelis and temples. You can approach the hotel from the Jagdish temple and the Old City through a narrow archway. The hotel offers both international and Indian dishes in their restaurant. There is no bar. The rooms have telephones and own bathrooms with hot and cold water. There is a travel counter which will arrange any horse riding, jeep and horse safari tours on request.
