Comfortable, Close to the Airport and Relaxing

I had arrived from Malaysia and there were no connecting flights to Cochin, so I decided to stay at the Hilton Hotel. when you are tired and wish to rest and without people invading your privacy or trying to sell you tours, this is a great place.. Internet.. excellent breakfast and most of all i liked the service..
Of course if you are a member of Hilton Honours you can get points to your account as well as Miles added to your FF programme.

Unique Quality: Clean, Excellent Service and Close to the Airport. Excellent place to relax in between flights or if you arrive late for a connecting flight

An oasis in Chennai, though the moisture in the rooms is a problem...

by TripAdvisor Member WernerMaurice

The hotel is conveniently located a mere 5 minute ride from the airport, though we did not hear any noise from the planes in our room.

The lobby is very elegant, as well as the restaurant where we enjoyed wonderful food and excellent service during our 3 nights stay. The garden and pool are just wonderful and a part of paradise in Chennai.

The rooms are okay, though they seem to have a problem with the moisture inside the room. Everything smells a bit damp and the clothes and the blanketts are damp as well. Too bad its not possible to open the windows a bit, as End of March it was not humid at all outside. We did not face this problem in any other hotels in Southern India. I hope the hotel will work on this problem with a new a/c maybe?

Apart from that a really great hotel which I would recommend to any friends and I would stay here again on my next stay.

Perfect customer service in a modern, understated hotel

by TripAdvisor Member AdrianBelfast

I spent a week at this hotel on a business trip and came away with very positive impressions. The hotel is well situated very close to the airport, and is very bright, calm and modern without being minimalist. What stood out most for me was the service from the restaurant staff, who were simply perfect. They are friendly, courteous and professional to a T, knowing exactly how much chit chat to engage you with and when to leave you alone and enjoy the sumptuous food. The chef regularly comes out of the kitchen and is keen to explain all of the dishes - and the array of food is brilliant. The hotel room is smaller than I'd expected, giving the impression that the hotel targets business customers. It is very clean - I'd no problems with damp like others have reviewed. The business facilities are excellent and the staff are most helpful again. (Wireless isn't free though - watch for that). The pool is great too. If I return to Chennai I'm definitely staying here again.

Nice - but a few negatives

by TripAdvisor Member rich0148

Stayed on business.

Fine hotel but:

Rooms are damp smelling as you cant open windows. Pool area in lovely, but closes at 7pm so if your on business and having to travel into the city thru the Chennai traffic, you stand no chance of ever seeing it!

Sports room is just a spare room with 2 running machines and a few wights.

Bar closes at 11pm.

Nothing around the area.

Good:

Staff are Very friendly

Restaurant is out of this world.

Lovely building and usual Indian hospitality.

Overall good, but a long way from the city and your kind of stuck there, and in the evenings you can get bored quickly.

Excellent business/airport hotel

by TripAdvisor Member Macrodiver

We stayed two nights a week apart (in two different rooms) on our way through Chennai. We chose this hotel for proximity to the airport -- which did work out well, it's really only 5-10 minutes, even in traffic -- but ended up impressed by the facility, the service, and the restaurant, where we ate a breakfast and a two dinners. Very fresh, tasty food and extraordinary service. The front desk and bell staff were also very helpful. Only negative: one room had a musty smell, definite but not overwhelming.

Decent place

by TripAdvisor Member TravelingG123

Trident is a decent hotel.

Room smelled musty.

Had snacks and drinks in the bar -- decent place. Service was very good.

Hotel is nice and close to the airport. Nice to make a quick getaway to the airport for an early flight.

Perfect for Long stay

by TripAdvisor Member Ayinap

I stayed in this hotel for almost 3 months and probably that says a lot by it self. This hotel is perfect for a long stay. If you are expecting an exciting, lavish, glitzy atmosphere, this is not the hotel for you. It is relatively small hotel with calm, soothing environment, like an Oasis in the middle of maddening Chennai traffic. If you are in a hurry, you may not enjoy what they have got to offer.

They have the best service I have seen, especially the service from the restaurant staff. They were caring, friendly, courteous and professional and proactively took care of my every need. They even made some special concoction of herbs when I was sick and it worked wonders! If you want to be pampered, here is the place to be!

If I ever have to stay in Chennai again, I will definitely go back to this hotel.

Oasis near the airport

by TripAdvisor Member just_here

I've stayed at the Trident for two weeks on a business trip. I can only agree with the other travellers who used the word 'oasis' to describe the calm atmosphere when you enter the lobby. Considering the location next to the end of one airport runway and to the main road leading to the airport, the hotel is suprisingly quiet.
The service and staff were simply great, friendly, helpful. The breakfast buffet has a good selection from continental, american and indian dishes. The same restaurant offers a dinner buffet, again with a great choice of differnt dishes. Comped to the a la carte meals, the buffet seem to be the better deal. The second restaurent, only open for dinner and slightly more expensive, offers especially seafood.
The desing of the hotel - lobby, restaurants and rooms - is modern, light and open.
The pool and garden are great to spend some hot and humid Chennai afternoon without leaving the hotel, though the pool closes at 7pm.
The drawbacks of this hotel have already been mentioned in teh other reviews: some slightly damp smell in the rooms and the distance from the city itself (close to the airport, however, and ok for trips to Mamallpuram or Konchipuram).
I would certainly stay at the Trident again.

Decent Airport/Business Hotel

by TripAdvisor Member global_traveller112

I have stayed in Trident numerous times in the last 8 years on my trips to Chennai and I always prefer it compared to city hotels due to the proximity to the airport and the hotel standard/service. I stayed at Trident again on a two night stay on a recent business trip and felt that it is still a ideal place for a business trip, but felt the rooms are getting old now and can do with a makeover.

The staff are courteous and service oriented, location is ideal, close to the airport, about 30 minutes ride from the city, feels miles away from the city's bustles when you get back to the hotel, food was nice, nothing exceptional but decent.

The rooms are good size for a business hotel with standard amentities, but the bathroom and the room can do with a renovation since its showing its age and I felt that for the amount they charge (INR 8000+), they certainly can offer better rooms.

They have also opended recently Trident spa which looked nice, but didn't got the chance to check it out this time.
