A Top Hotel in Chennai
I stayed at this hotel in the lead up to the insane Chennai to Kanyakumari autorickshaw that we competed in:
Autorickshaw Madness
The race used the hotel as it's operational headquarters before we started. The services of the hotel were excellent and a good first step in India for us. Rooms were quite nice, with the major chain amenities your would expect. Courtyard Marriott is in the US a mid range semi budget hotel - but this was much closer to a standard 4 star in the US. Well appointed lobby and excellent breakfast in the lobby with dhosa, and various other south indian delights.
Its location is on a main thorough fare so it can be somewhat noisy - added to by the fact that it sits directly adjacent (don't know if it still does as Chennai was rapidly building) to a shanty town with an incredibly loud call to prayer in the morning.
All in all, I would say this hotel was an up to standards western style semi-luxury hotel that serves either as a respite from the challenges of India, a place to conduct business, or perhaps as a good jumping off point to the more adventurous things to do in Tamil Nadu.
Unique Quality: I thoroughly enjoyed the breakfasts in the restaurant near the lobby.
