Trekking in Kodaikanal

Hi

I am planning to visit Kodaikanal in September 2006 and would like to know about:

1. places that are ideal and beautiful for trekking
2. contact number for the Guest House that are in the heart of forest
3. contact numbers of trekking guides in Kodai
4. must do while at Kodai

Your inputs will be much appreciated.

september is a good time to go to kodaikanal.
you can get some super deals for lodging also as its off season.
you can reach there and book a deal.
nice places to stay
sterling lake view,kodai resort& villa retreat.
i dont think there is anything in the heart of the jungle but the above mentioned are away from the hustle bustle of the city .
once you fix the hotel, they will help you get a guide to take you trekking.
might rain a bit in sept, pls be prepared.
dont expect luxury hotels , coz none of the above are that actually except for carlton koidaikanal , most are basic but yet charge a lot compared to what they deliever. you can expect clean basic stuff for the above mentioned hotels.people are great . try the famous magic mushrooms & then trip! they are available in the market... you just have to ask ! all the best !

"CVN Cottage"

During this year trip we spend three nights in CVN Cottages, it is not pure cottage but rooms like cottages. But i like to stay there, but the water heates are old type wait to get heat, and the furnitures are not new. TV, intecom facilities are there, food being on order, taste good. This cottage near to Vellaiappan Cinema Theatre and near to Hotel Tamilnadu.

"Hotel Stawberry"

This is new hotel near bustand. I never been there but my friends said it is good and neat.
