Quality Inn MGM Beach Resort: Looking to relax and pick some culture

MGM Beach Resort is a resort on the scenic beach road, the East Coast Road, just 25 kilometres from Chennai.
The hotel which had been closed after the Tsunami devastation, has been completely restored, the garden has been replanted.

Each rooms, with views of the sea, the lake or garden, with every comfort, multi channel TV, mini bar and safe.

There are a private beach, a swimming pool, with Jacuzzi, a bar, 24 hour room service, MGM Dizzee World theme park next door and a tempting multi-cuisine restaurant,.

Great lodge in the middle of Mamallapuram: Sea Breeze Hotel (annexe)

This hotel annexe is well situated in the center of the village and is quite comfortable. Twin beds, fan with different speeds, large bathroom with European WC, shower and . This building is a more cosy annexe of the further situated large Sea breeze hotel... But you can enjoy the swimming pool and the beach !

Sterling Beach Resort: Mahabalipuram's Best Beach resort :- Sterling

While coming from Pondicherry I came across the town of Mahabalipuram. I halted at Sterling Beach resort,it was surrounded by lush green trees. Lots and lots of antiques were kept at reception.

Room was well versed with basic amenities. Air Conditioner, Refrigrator, Bathroom with 24 Hrs hot/cold water. The walls of the room were also decorated with star -fishes, and mud made frogs.. The bathrooms at Sterling Mahabalipuram were spacious with 24 hrs hot and cold water facilities and European style closets. The color combinations of the furniture, walls and pillow was unique.

Immediately after checking-in I headed to swimming pool at around 18:30 I came out of pool, changed and went to beach. The beach is approx. 300 mtrs from the resort. It was dark all around and I was surprised to see that the guards were pointing ways with their high beam torchs. I stayed in the breeze for about 45 Mins and the guard waited for me all that time.

In the dinner I decided to dine in the in house "Pongam Restaurant" . All those veg stuff I had was great. This exquisite restaurant offers unique dining facilities vegetarian and non vegetarian inside and also caters in the open air.

Next morning I wake up early at around 5:00 AM for a sunrise view .At around 6:30 AM I entered in the swimming pool again. Again I had my breakfast in "Pongam".

Later I played few matches of Table-Tennis, snooker and carrom and Mini Golf. All are in-house in the resort.

Reception :- Lots of antiques, swords, old printing machines, chairs, books etc....
Massage Centre :- Aurvedic Massage centre.
Food :- Pongam Restaurant (In House)
Recreation:- Beach Volleyball, Basketball, Swimming Pool, Carrom Board, Snookers, Table Tennis, Mini Golf, Badminton.
Beach :- 300 Mtrs away from resort.

MGM beach resort , mahabalipuram , chennai: Mgm beach resort is pathetic- bad service and food

Stayed at this horrible place for 3 nights on Christmas 2008. This is by far the worst place we ve stayed at. The service is pathetic - the staff avoid all eye contact and look right through you. The food is pathetic and the sea crest restuarant and bar serves only buffets which hit you in a face after 1 or 2 meals. The staff wont even let you sit at the bar if you arent eating the buffet. so the only option is to eat in your room.
The rooms are average ( highly overpriced). The jaccuzi and steam ( paid extra even if you are staying at the hotel) were not working during our stay.

The thing that stands out for this hotel is "pathetic service". The staff , i was told they dont hirer from hotel management schools is absolutely shameless. The waiters at the restuarant are the worst ,followed closely by the room service and front office staff.
The resturant staff wont even show you to a table , but look at you suspicuously when you tell them you have a room with bed+breakfast. Most guests were cleaning tables and removing used cutlery themselves, apart from arranging tables and chairs.

We ordered food a couple of times in our room, as we would have puked if we ate the buffet even once more. THe food was ok. The dinner dishes were removed next day during house keeping at 6pm. I had called house keeping , front office and room service multiple times during the 20 odd hours that the dishes were in the room , but as for everything else no response.

Radisson Temple Bay: Sun, Sea and GREAT Coffee!

Radisson Temple Bay (formerly GRT Temple Bay Beach Resort) is a five star hotel on the very coast of the Bay of Bengal.
Large and well maintained territory. Several buildings are spread along the hotel territory. Very calm location, in India it is very important. Very good breakfast. Best coffee I had on this itinerary: just the right espresso or americano, even cappuccino was ok. The hotel has also a very good restaurant on the shore for lunch and dinner. Food was delicious.
We liked the service and the room, which was clean and of good size. The bathroom was a bit old, but OK and clean.
The location of the hotel is convenient to use it as a base for a number of days and travel every morning to different places around.

Great coffee that we are used to drink in Europe: from the coffee machine.
It is so fantastic to walk along the bay in the morning especially in the end of February when you come right from the cold and dirt of Moscow winter!

Sea Breeze: Have a look first - Mirarlo primero

Located in a superb location next to the beach and the Shore Temple
Absolutely the worst hotel we stayed in on our trip to India , and the only one in our trip that did not meet the minimum standards . We would not recommend it , unless you check the rooms before
The most basic and dirty room in our visit to south India
Very bad breakfast
After our stay we saw that there was another area of rooms that looked better, so do we not know if it was a problem of the agency to make reservations or if all the Hotel was so bad

Bharath Guesthouse: Cheap option

This guesthouse is in amongst all the other cheap accommodation options in the village, near the village. Rooms range from between Rs300-500 and I think there's one for Rs1000. My room was fairly simple, like most places tend to be here, with 3 single beds, ceiling fan, plastic chair, balcony, 2 chairs and cold water shower for Rs500. The place is run by a nice polite chap and it did the job for the night.
