Hotel Kamal
by alcoholic29 about Hotel Kamal
I stayed at the Hotel Kamal in Taj Ganj area near the Taj Mahal. It's listed in the Lonely Planet Most rickshaw peeps will know this place. It's a backpackers hostel. I paid 200 rupees for 1 night with fan and private bathroom. It's not the greatest place but if you are a backpacker it's fine.
It's also got it's own restuarant which has decent food.
AGRA - The green City

"Expensive, Expensive"
Why I went to this city, I really don't know. For the budget travelers a nightmare. Seeing the tourist spots can destroy all your financial plans:
Taj Mahal 20 $, Baby Taj 250 INR, Fatehpur Sikri 10 $.
Thank you Mr. Clinton who said on his last visit in India that the government of India could make much more money if it charges this fees from the tourist, because they are so rich and they can spent this money out.
BTW This is a pictures took from the other side of the "river" and is for free.
"Accomodation"
I staied at Hotel Kamal in Taj Ganj. Clean rooms for 120 INR, from the roof you have a nice few on the Taj Mahal for free
"Just arround the corner"
Join us.Not the best but not so far. A roof top restaurant just around the corner of the hotel. And not to forget a very good generator which is really necesery in Agra when every day at least 5 hours you´ll stay without electricity
"Take care, or be prepared"
I never thought that in a such a big city like Agra they will have problems with the electricity, but the "adorable" sound was this of the generator. And this sometimes for a long time. Normaly the hotels have one, the restaurant "Join Us" also, but sometimes also the generator cannot save your evening, so why not accept a candle light dinner ??
"Fatehpur Sikri"
A nice place where you should spend some time, and not just coming to see the "tourist spots"

AGRA TO KATHMANDU

Is there any bus or train from AGra India to Kathmandu Nepal?
If there is, how long the travel time?

No direct connections (but the travel agents will tell you otherwise, so beware). Train Agra - Gorakhpur. Bus to Saunali (Border India/Nepal) cross over to Nepal and catch a bus to Kathmandu. Long trip, takes 2 full days. Also the ride from the border to Kathmandu is very uncomfortable, because the busses are old, clapped out vehicles...

Hi,
The easier conection is to travel by train from Agra to Delhi and take a flight to Kathmandu,I do not know which part of the year you intend travelling but during mansoon and post mansoon the road condtion may not be exactly comfortable and therefore these two days of travle may not be very good

You could also catch the train from Agra to Varanasi and fly from there, Personally I would do as #1 suggests and take the train to Gorakhpur, Preferably a night train, then bus to the border at Saunali, overnight there on the Nepal side and take a day bus to Kathmandu, Also there are direct busses to Pokhara from Saunali, if you are also going to go there on your Nepal trip then it is easer to go to Pokhara first, then from there to Kathmandu as there are Good tourist busses on the Pokhara to Kathmandu leg
I have been to Nepal several times and have written up a lot of my personal experiences Including some ideas on Trekking, where to stay, eat, things to see and do + some tips on transport on
