The food was good. The lobby impressive. The rooms were clean, but there were problems with the electrical outlets and also some dampness in the walls and there was a slight damp smell.
The people working in the reception seem to be keen on getting as much money as they could from you. For some reason I could not trust them. They told me breakfast was not included in the price of the room. So the next morning at the restaurant I wanted to order a la carte breakfast since that would be cheaper than paying for a 300Rs buffet. The manager at the Shalimar restaurant seemed really surprised that the breakfast was not included with the room. That's when I realized they had cheated me out of it at the reception. He told me that he would check with the reception since breakfast is always included, and the reception told him in our case it was not. He came back and told me that sometimes people negotiate breakfast with the room rates. So he allowed us to order a la carte. Sounds strange doesn't it. I always thought either breakfast is included or not. I did not know there was negotiation involved in it. With 2 rooms and 4 people I ended up giving them another 1500 or so rupees for breakfast. So, I would clarify everything with this hotel before booking it if you intend on staying here. Once you are there they are going to try their best to get as much money out of you as possible. This hotel is now called Yamuna view by the way.
