Good Hotels in Agra
At Agra I would recommend three hotels and they are Mogul Sheraton, Trident and Howard Park Plaza. They have good accommodation with good service. For budget tourists there are many more hotels in Agra.

Nice place with a slight view of the Taj. Good decent restaurant and shops close by
At a walking distance from Taj Mahal, Howard Park Plaza is a medium standard hotel and is well for those having lesser budget while on a tour to the city. My personal experience in this hotel was quiet okay and I must give it all the points for its clean and neat rooms and good room service. The internet was very slow and the workers at shopping arcade were very annoying almost getting on my nerves for selling their gift articles. The swimming pool was beauteous and if you stay here long enough you might actually come across certain monkeys on it which to me was very amusing but some inhabitants found it terrible. The best experience in the hotel was a visit to its Ayurvedic Health Club surely it was very comforting.
Unique Quality: Ayurvedic Health Club
The rooms and their facilities are very good. The beds are comfortable and the rooms have plenty of space. They have a mini bar and also snacks in the room.
The bathroom is modern with good showers.
After speaking to other travellers about staying in Agra, none had good experiences. However, I was very pleased with my stay their. My only grumble is that the early morning alarm call I booked didn't happen, and it was only by luck I woke up in time for my transport. It seemed everyone else didn't get a wake up call that morning and there were a few slightly annoyed customers.
Unique Quality: It's central location is good. It is only about 2 kilometres to the Taj Mahal.
This was a great mid-range hotel at a walking distance from Taj, although there were no views of Taj from the hotel. The rooms were nice and clean and the food was also good although slightly expensive. The hotel was undergoing renovation, hence staying in the room during the day was slightly nightmarish as the drilling sound could drive you crazy. But, when we complained to the hotel staff, they turned off the drill.
My staying in this hotel was very nice, i enjoyed a lot. Nice, beautiful rooms, good service and tasty food (the only thing i didn't like that it took them rather long time to cook it). Restaurant in on the ground floor, but when i was there, no one used to have dinner, i guess everyone was making orders in the rooms - but that is also quite all right.
Huge hotel, beautiful and cozy not only from inside, but from outside too. And it is not so costly at the same time.
Unique Quality: The hotel has the aurvedic health club, many foreigners are interested in it. They offer health procedures of aurvedic medicine.
Luxury hotel
Unique Quality: Swimming Pool.
It has a great main hall with a beautiful gigantic chandelier.
Unique Quality: A superb pool with occasional guests from the surrounding trees :-)

Though the Lobby does smell, and look a bit run down the rooms in this hotel are fantastic, very similar to a 4 star hotel.
Staff are ver friendly. There was many power outages but I think thats standard for India.
No sign of the roof top restaurant with views of the Taj they advertised, maybe it was closed but this could be a have.
Good option for Agra accommodation
We drove past Holiday Inn, which looked quite good. Though happy we stayed at Howard Park Plaza.
Lovely, friendly staff. Very welcoming. Beware, they dont take your bags to your room for free- tips are expected! No problems with checking in and out. Rooms are spacious and clean with maids visting twice a day to change sheets and towels. Breakfast wasnt so great, but OK.
hi, i am staying in agra for 1 night, arriving very late and leaving first thing in morning (the plan is to see the taj mahal at dawn), and i am in a dilemma about which hotel to stay in. because i have 2 young kids, cleanliness is a priority , and so i originally picked the taj view hotel. in hindsight, i have realised its very dear for just one night to "sleep" in, and am considering the howard park plaza hotel.
but i have read some not-so-good reviews about the latter hotel, so am in a dilemma about booking it, or spending almost double the money and staying put in the taj view hotel
any advice or opinions on this?...has anyone stayed at the howards park plaza, and is it at more of a distance to the taj mahal than the taj view hotel? they are on the same road i think, but i cannot find the park plaza one on the map....
Hi,
I don't know the Howards Park Plaza, but I think go for the one you feel more comfortable with, even for just a little while because it will only enhance the whole "Taj Mahal visit". I went last February and we stayed at the Sheraton. I liked it as well and don't know how much it is compared to the Howards Park, but we enjoyed it even though we stayed for a short while. The staff was unbelievably helpful....I mean, we needed a hotel in New Delhi and the city was absolutely booked due to the Picasso auction, and there was no way. But they pulled some strings and got us a room, an expensive one, but a fantastic one.

I hope you have a wonderful time!! The Taj Mahal was sooo magical (we saw at at sunset when it takes on a pink tone) that I absolutely need to revisit it at dawn next time.

A superb pool with occasional guests from the surrounding trees :-)
