A Great Budget Accommodation - Taj View!

If you are budget travelling and plan on a one or two day stay in Agra, it doesn't get much better than Hotel Sidhartha. We had read the name in the Lonely Planet and came across it after a 1 minute walk from the Western gateway to the Taj complex.
A double room (with ensuite bathroom) costs 200 rupees. (about $4.00). The hotel also has a restaurant in a lovely quite courtyard. However, this is only for those who can handle very basic budget accommodation: expect bugs, grubby rooms and theiving monkeys.
The hotel is located right in the maze of winding streets that back up to the Taj Mahal walls and they are great to go wondering around in the evening and really take in "India". To get a hotel with a "Taj View" you have to stay in one of the $200 per night large hotels on the hill overlooking Agra about 2 miles away from the Taj Mahal. To get a "Taj View" at the Hotel Sidhartha, all you have to do is climb up an old set of stairs onto the roof and you're right outside the complex wall. It is an absolutely incredible experience and well worth the very basic budget accommodation.

very gud place 2 stay ........ i stayed here for a week ...it was an awesome stay at sai palace ...gud food & beautiful and amazing view OF TAJ MAHAL from ROOF TOP RESTAURANT &EVEN ROOMS .. staff was very coperative and helpful to meee..... i tottaly recommend this place ..... u can even inform the hotel owner for free pickup from railway station and bus stand .. WOnderful , best and comfortable stay i had in india was at sai palace agra .. TAJ VIEW HOTEL???

Hi everyone,
Traveling to India later this year, will be staying at the TAJ VIEW while in Agra, has anyone else stayed here, and if so, how would you rate it overall?

I think it is the best hotel in that area ... it says you can see TAJ from your room but you can see TAJ from almost everywhere as well. The room is okay for 5-stars hotel and I got 100us for double room with breakfast ( I got free lunch box when we asked for free too LOL )
The tricycle in front the hotel was nice and not cheap to take you around. Dont forget stop at the red fort too.
