I stayed at 'Hotel Shiva Palace' (Rs.250/- per night pp)..Beware of the promised facilities before you check-in and do not pay your money already before checking the room thoroughly (Toilet, Flush, Broken windows,..) . The Western toilet of the room was leaking. Also boot marks on the seat?!. When reported, they least bothered to repair/clean the seat or even to change my room. And bluntly the manager said, they were not going to return my money.. Alas! It was only fifteen minutes after check in and still was only humiliated with words; 'Go to Dharmasala -aka- charity organisations' if you do not have any more money left on you.
You have a 'Jain Dharmasala' just opposite the hotel (Raja Road, Dehra Dun). I checked it just for the sake of it. The quote was Rs.75/- for a double bed, ensuite, similar room I had at the hotel above but no TV (well, I did not need it either). Unfortunate, for me, I could not get the money refund from the 'Shiva Palace' authorities. Ofcourse, being a charity organisation the room did not have tiles or kind of look of a hotel but still ok for a nights sleep.
