 The Victorian style Cedar Inn is considered a boutique hotel and is a wonderful choice in Darjeeling. We loved our stay there!

It is set high above the town with wonderful views of Mount Kanchenjunga, the 3rd highest mountain in the world at 8,586 meters - 29,169 feet. We even had views from our room.

The room itself was very nice: comfortable bed, beautiful handcrafted woodwork and a sitting area with a fireplace! There were lots of other amenities as well (see website for info).

We were there during the winter and since there was is no central heating it was cold. That was remedied by buckets of coal for the fireplace (first one is free), an extra heater, hot water bottles placed in the bed, and a heavy down comforter, when all combined, allowed for a good night's sleep.

We loved having room service. The food was good and it was nice to sit by the fire at night or enjoy breakfast with the beautiful views. During the summer, you can have your meals on the terrace.

The staff were very nice and helpful, even arranged a driver to take us to Gangtok when we left. The walk to town takes about 15 minutes but it's all downhill. Free transportation to/from town is available through the hotel.

I would definitely recommend staying at the Cedar Inn!
