from Dehli to Rishikes

by qwerty01

please help with information - how mach cost taxi from Dehli, int. airport to Rishikesh.
Also, at makemytrip.com I find out train from Dehly to Haridwar from Delhi S Rohilla, is it far from airport?

A regular taxi from Delhi to Rishikesh would cost a lot of rupees.
Get a pre-paid taxi from airport to New Delhi station. (about R200-maybe less)
There is a train that goes from Delhi to Haridwar (4 hours) and once in Haridwar- get a taxi to Rishikesh. Should cost about R400 (2o min drive)
I have made pages for Haridwar , Delhi and Rishikesh. Links are on my HOMEPAGE> (CLICK ON MY NAME OR PHOTO FOR HOMEPAGE)

Pre booking a taxi for Rishikesh would cost between Rs.3000/- to Rs.5000/-,depending upon the type of vehicle,Indica,Toyota Innova etc and this is for a return trip back to Delhi.Even if it is just a drop to Rishikesh the taxi will charge you for the return journey also.A much better alternative would be to take the Shatabdi Express train from New Delhi to Haridwar.
Train No. 2017 Dehradun Shatabdi Departure - 6.50am Arrival Haridwar - 11.30am
Train No. 2055 Dehradun Janshatabdi Departure - 3.15pm Arrival Haridwar - 9.30pm
Both the above trains are very comfortable and fast,Book the A/C chair car ticket and you will be fine.Rishikesh is 24 kms from Haridwar.Cost of ticket in the train would be around Rs.500/-.The Dehradun Shatabdi ticket includes Breakfast and tea.

Besides the higher costs of a taxi from Delhi to Rishikesh vis a vis a train, the road journey will really take a long time over 10 hours and may not really be worth it due to bad roads and traffic snarls. The train ride is really practical and enjoyable.

Ranjit_ Re travel time by CAR to Rishikesh from Delhi:

We have done this trip by car. It took us 5 hours- and we stopped along the way for lunch. NEVER 10 hours.
The roads are not bad, and traffic congestion was not at all bad. You can read about it on my Haridwar or Rishikesh pages.

We have also done the train trip.

Both are suitable-

I think soon the airport would have a connection to Metro and then moving to vauious locations gets much easier!!

I also did the trip from Haridwar to Delhi by taxi,
because the train was cancelled and it took 6 hours
to Nizamuddin. I paid Rs 3,800. A more comfortable
(and faster) option is the Shatabdi though...

Take a look at Humayun´s Tomb. Humayun was the second Mughal ruler of India (r. 1530-1540 and 1555-1556). This tomb, which was completed in 1570 by his wife who is buried there, took eight years to complete. Rajpath & India Gate‏ Lawns

by RAJASTHANBYCAR

Rajpath & India Gate - Flanked by ornamental ponds and lawns, Rajpath is host to the Republic Day Parade. The two secretariat buildings and Rashtrapati Bhawan on the Raisina hills are located on the two sides of this immensely broad road. Previously the Boat Club, besides the Rajpath, was host to many demonstrations and Rallies. India Gate is towards the eastern end of Rajpath .
India Gate is a 42m high stone arch of triumph. It bears the name of the 90,000 Indian Army Soldiers who died in the campaigns of World War 1, the North-West Frontiers operations and the 1919 Afghan Fiasco. Below the arch is the memorial to the unknown soldier. India Gate is surrounded by green grass lawns and trees.

CYCLE RICKSHAW

by BerniShand

A cycle rickshaw ride is not for those of a nervous disposition.... its also pretty dicey if you have bronchial problems as you come very close to the worst of the traffic fumes, but I thought it was very exciting and really enjoyed it... though it was very scarey at times
