Cows are usual sight in big cities as they are in the rural areas and in India they are revered amongst the Hindus as being sacred. They are also protected by law. It has been report recently that there are some 40,000 cows through to be wandering around the streets of Delhi. Most have been left to roam by corrupt dairy farmers. If you have the time try and drive from Jaipur to Udaipur. It took two days but you get to cut through some fascinating areas including Pushkar and Ajmer. Never will I forget ox carts pulling large slabs of marble down dirt streets lined with trees tinged in white marble dust.

Being capital city Delhi is well connected to most of the world and cities within India by air. Almost all the major International airlines to arrive Delhi late evening or mid-night while domestic airlines fly more during the day. Delhi has one airport: Indira Gandhi International Airport where Terminal I is for International Arrivals and Departures and Terminal 2 is for Domestic Arrivals and Departures.
Distance between two terminals is 5 kilometers. Hotels near airport are Radisson and Centaur, while Taj Palace, Hyatt Regency and Grand Hyatt are approximately 10 to 12 kilometers away.
Rail: Delhi has three major Railway stations
1. New Delhi Railway station near city centre connaught place.
2. Old Delhi Railway Station near walled city, Red Fort and Jama Mosque.
3. Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station near south east Delhi.
Delhi is easily accessible by train from most of the parts in India.
Bus journey is recommended for distance upto 300 kilometers area where train network is not very good. Interstate buses from Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab/Haryana regulary ply to/fro Delhi.

Rikshaw is recommended for travelling in walled city though you can also take a walk.
Taxis/Auto Rikshaw (also known as three wheelers) are easily available. All are meterd and now run on CNG. It is advisable to check with the drivers that meter is in correct condition as most of the times the are slightly tampered.
City buses are not recommended as they are very crowded and unconvenient for a foreign traveller.
Local trains are not much in use even by locals.
You can do day trips to Agra, Jaipur, Rishikesh etc.
You can hire/buy a second hand Royal Enfeild or a bicycle to move around.
