Corbette National park &Himalayas

by Joematt

I have 2 more questions.
1) Which part of Corbette National park I can visit end on June and where do you recommend that I can possibly see animals?

2) Where is the closet place form Delhi, Agra or Jaipur I can see Himalayas.

Thanks for the replies

I have replied to your email re other stuff- but closest place for Himalayas (from Delhi) and National Parks is Rishikesh & Haridwar- both 4-5 hours north of Delhi and 20 mins apart by car.
Rajiji National Park is on outskirts of Haridwar- a beautiful peaceful park with excellent guides. And Rishikesh is 25mins drive from Haridwar. In the Hiamalayan foothills.

See my homepage for links with more info.

June is very hot in India, but may be bearable in the far north.

Hi Matt - if the park is open, you'll have a good chance of tiger spotting. Since it will be very hot, they'll be looking for water and you'll likely see them at the waterholes. You always see plenty of other wildlife even if you don't see tigers. The park may or may not be open late June depending on the weather/monsoon season. Enjoy!

I would strongly recommend Kumaon for the Himalayas and moreover its very close to Corbett.Places like Nainital,Mukteshwar,Ramgarh,Kausani,Ranikhet,Chaukori. All these places around 2 to 3 hours from Corbett.Excellent views of the Himalayas.

End June is ok, but not in July as the Corbett National Park remains close in monsoon. There are three entry gates Bijrani,Jhina and Dhikala. If u really want to see tiger enter from Bijrani. U can reach there by Jeep Safari which starts from Bijrani Gate (near Ramnagar) early in the morning at 7 AM and later in the afternoon at 2 PM. Dont forget to book your jeep safari well in advance. Hotel/Resort u r staying in help u in booking. Another option where u see deep forest is from Dhikala Entry Gate. There u can go by jeep safari or Canter Safari. Tiger is a territorial animal and u will find only one tiger in 10 to 15 sq. kilometer area. so hope u r lucky. Dhikala is one place where u can see Himalayas and Aravalis on your left and right.
Agra and Jaipur both are 250 KMs from Delhi. Corbett is 275 KMs from Delhi.

I would recommend you to visit Nainital. It's a beautiful place to visit especially in May & June. Another thing it's very close to Corbette.

by 37SingleMaleInDubai1

Sometimes when you are travelling you may need to send a parcel by post to home or even may need to receive some money from home. Then there is a post office in Connaught place that can do all of that for you.
Be reminded that they work from 10:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. so be on time.
Their exact address is:

Post Office
Block A. Connaught place Inner Circle

Near to Rajiv Chowk Metro Station.

If you are coming by metro just get off in Rajiv Chowk Metro Station and Exit from Gate number 8 Well sending souvenirs and receiving cash is fun!! :-)

Seventh city of Delhi- SHAHJEHANABAD

by Rupanworld

For sometime during the reign of Mughal emperors Akbar and Jehangir the capital of India was at Fatehpur Sikri near Agra. When Mughal emperor Shah Jehan came to power, he built the seventh city of Delhi and named it as Shahjehanbad. This is the old Delhi area of Delhi including within its ambit the Red Fort, Chandni Chowk and all the several gates such as Kashmiri Gate, Delhi Gate, Turkman Gate and Ajmeri Gate. For more please read my things to do tips.

Packing List

by sandravdp

Bring a backpack when you want to go sightseeing and when you want to see more of India. Bring a suitcase when you do a business or luxurytravel. Bring clothes that are light, but have long sleeves. Bring a sweather too, because the evenings can be cold. Take a good pair of slippers and walking shoes with you. Bring along suncream, anti mosquito cream, mosquitonet (when you stay at very cheap hotels or hostels the mosquitos may get in your room) Film for your camera is available, but watch the expire dates carefully. You better get your film developed at home, though there are some quality stores to be found.

A good time to visit is at sunset as the Taj change colours as the sunset.Enter via West gate, the price for a ticket is Rs 700 and is obtained from the booking office on the left side of the main entirance. There are many guides who will offer to take too Around the site. They charge about Rs 700 and are worth & very fenny! They will explan the History of the Taj and will take photographe of you.At the best locations. so take a guide you will not regect it!!! I egnore the hawkers!
