Travel Tips for Delhi

Supermoves

by zumodemango

First impression, just landing waching all that was new for me. Waking up in the morning knowing I was in Delhi and hear and see cars, people and vegetation from my hotel room.
Much better that feeling reading a few novels about India like 'the blue bed spread' by Raj Kamal Jha, 'A suitable boy' by Vikram Sem and 'The God of small things' by Roy. Remember specially the hot and wet weather and the smells of the temples in Agust.

If you are a smoker, then smoke a BIRI

by schlumpf

Walking trough the street of India you will see all the people (i saw only man) smoking such a small sigar, called BIRI. In India there are a lot of tipes of Biri and it is a normality smoke a biri. (it costs also only 5Rs Vs 50/70Rs for a package of cigarettes), they smoke wherever, on trains, buses, restaurants and so on....

Improved Worldwide Understanding

by 7ContinentsOrBust

I think all school children in developed countries should spend a summer in a developing country so we can improve understanding around the world. That way we would really have a feel, not just intellectually, but emotionally, for our worldwide neighbors. Imagine how much better the world would be if George Bush had done this as a child.

Local Crafts - India

by srhussaini about Dilli Haat

Dilli Haat :-

Dilli Haat (is a government-run food and crafts bazaar open daily. More than 60 stalls sell handmade products from all over India, and 25 serve regional food. Open-air music and dance occasionally accompany the proceedings in mid-afternoon or evening. Dilli Haat charges an admission fee of Rs. 5. Handmade Products from all over India. Very Very reasonable

Rickshaw

by diageva

To move around Delhi, the rickshaw. You will find one without problem every where you will go. They prefer taking tourist cause they will ask you more ... and they will wait for you also if you want for little.
If you want to go to a restaurant or a shop or a monument is normal that you have to give explications of why you want to go there because they will always try to take you other place .. where they can get commision.
for long distances over 90 R.
for little distances from 20 to 50 R
always speak about the price before and ... try to reduce the one he gives you.
They are green and yellow, you will see those little rickshaws full of local people, and about 10 children at one to go to school
