I normally find thet the 3 wheelers are cheapest especially if there is more than one person.
You can visit an organised tour operater and find out the best sites to visit and negotiate an all day tour.
Haggle price even on tours
If you are English or foreigner check prices with one or two
Have fun

Ivory carving, one of the oldest traditions in India, has also been described as one of noblest crafts by the Vedic / Literature. History reveals that King Solomon acquired Indian Ivory in the 10th centuary BC and King Darius used ivory pieces to decorate his place.

Sewing Machine Donated by Rotary Club of Pacifica

by 7ContinentsOrBust

When I travel to a country, to any new place, rather than just do the touristy things, I like to learn about a culture. I like to see if I can make just a little bit of difference in the lives of the people I meet. If we all did that, wouldn't the world be a better place?

My Rotary club back home in Pacifica,California donated a number of sewing machines and educational supplies to this school, which was started by the Rotary Club of Delhi.

The Rotarians in Delhi who started this school are really an inspiration to us all.

Here a mall there a mall...

by husain about Shopping malls

Delhi has a culture of `mom and pop stores'. These are small shops across the road from your house, that stock all the groceries and daily use stuff you`d need. All it takes is a phonecall and they and will deliver to your doorstep. The shopping mall bug hadnt quite caught on here. Even the big brands have exclusive stand alone retail outlets in various different localities and markets.
Over the past few years there has been a huge boom in the construction of shopping malls all over town... A big chunk of them in Gurgaon, one of Delhi's satellite towns, within the `national capital region'.
There has recently, been a drive by the courts directing the authorities to clamp down on unauthorised commercial properties- which basically refers to the shops and stores that have mushroomed all across the city in designated residential areas.
This resulted in buldozers coming out and knocking down parts of some high profile stores etc- some dramatic scenes resulted and lots of protests against the corruption that led to these properties coming up in the first place.
So now, there has been a big push for retail space in these malls and rentals are going thru the roof all of a sudden. And wherever there is space to build, there is one mushrooming... You`ll find all the coffee shops, retail stores for big brands, speciality restaurants and multiplexes within the malls.

Trains

by Rupanworld

Delhi is well connected with all cities and towns of India through railways. It is said that the best way to see India is through the Indian railway system. In fact, no visit to India can be complete without the experience of travelling on Indian trains and seeing the busy Indian railway stations, and meeting the crowd on the trains. Train travel is safe, and extremely cheap and if you are travelling in Air-Conditioned classes, your journey would also be comfortable. India has a wide network of trains connecting the whole big country very well. You can book your tickets online here.
