Flights in and out of Delhi

by nattybabe

Hi,

I'm flying into Delhi on Spice Jet landing in the domestic terminal at 17.05. Would I be crazy if I were to book an Air India flight (leaves from the International Terminal) to Amritsar departing at 19.00?

Should I stay the night in Delhi and get a morning flight instead?

Thanks,

Hi,
It will really b very tight. spicejet flight will land at 17:05. by chance if it is even 30 mins late, it will b difficult for u to catch the air india flight from international terminal. as it is u r suppose to report there atleast one hr. b4 d departure.
so, enjoy yr evening in delhi and catch morning flight for amritsar.
cheers

hai
all flights to delhi are getting delayed due to heavy fog there.,
with this in mind dont take risks.,
check once again for the timings.

Hi
DO not try the flight with less that 2 hrs diff. U need atleast 4 hrs to be safe.

I would suggest you stay in Delhi and take the morning Shatabdi train to Amritsar. The travel time will be almost the same, hardly a difference of 2 Hrs.

1)Two hrs is a very short period to change flights.
Now a days due to fog, most of the flights are delayed over 3-4hrs.
2) For short distance like Amritsar, flight is not recommendable that too from International terminal. Suggest you take the dats train from New Delhi station next day morning.

If you have decided to take a flight, evening flight is better than early morning flight as the chances of getting delayed is more in the early morning flights due to fog.

Dear Please always remember in India flight never arrived in rite time...so never take the connection in defference of 2-5 hrs. It will be more then five hrs defference and please note Air India airline depart from International airport as it is international flight go via Delhi to Amristar, so you have go go from Domectic airport to International airport by inter coach services or taxi.

Travel Tips for Delhi

Get lost in the back alleys of...

by danwt99

Get lost in the back alleys of Old Delhi. Taking a rickshaw ride into the spice market in Old Delhi. There where thousands of eyes fixated on us as we sat perched just above shoulder height. We were the only westerners around. Getting lost in a sea of gazes - never before had I felt so far away from home.

what should women wear in a city like Delhi

by saoirse2002

It depends on where in Delhi you are - in parts of south Delhi or Connaught Place you could wear anything you like. However long trousers, skirts are best. You dont have to have full length tops/ shirts but short sleeves are fine, as are sleeveless, but preferably with not very deep necklines. I always find it handy to carry a scarf - for covering up in an situation where you dont feel comfortable and for protection against the sun/ pollution.

Gurwara Sikh Sargat

by call_me_rhia

Gurwara Sikh Sargat is a Sikh temple...but not one of the flashy ones.. one of the small, non-descriptive ones located on the 2nd floor of a similar non-descriptive building. The interior was quite barren, if you make an exception for a sort of altar and a large photo of their Golden Temple in Amritsar. And yet it was a brilliant visit: the nicest sikh of all came to meet us and explained a little bit of his religion, then showed us the sacred book and recited some prayers for us.
Sidenote: remember to bring something to cover your hair when visiting one of their temples.

High-quality souvenirs and small art objects

by travelmad478 about Handicrafts Museum shop

The Handicrafts Museum in Delhi is one of my absolute favorite places to poke around. The museum itself is well worth a visit, but another main attraction is the gift shop. This store rises well above the usual souvenir-stand level, offering really high-quality crafts, art, and books. The goods on sale are often quite different from the typical fare available in the Government of India regional handicrafts stores. This shop is fairly big and has a huge jumble of items, so be prepared to spend some time if you want to take full advantage.

The Handicrafts Museum also has an outdoor area within the museum itself where artisans demonstrate how their crafts are created, and also sell them at small stalls. These can also be very rewarding to look through.

UNDER CONSTRUCTION

by BerniShand

At the moment [ late 2003 ] there is a lot of disruption on the roads in Dehli,
a subway system is under construction and there are massive road works in various places.

Just wanted to warn you that journeys across the city which take ages at the best of times are now taking even longer
