Orchid Garden Hotel any good?

by Nomadbynature

Has anyone been to the Orchid Garden Hotel in Karol Bagh, New Delhi? If so, is it a decent place? I have been looking in vain for a clean, safe, central and affordable hotel in New Delhi and this is the closest I have been able to come up with. Any feedback is appreciated! Thanks.

Can’t say I have come across this one, But I did stay at a nice little hotel in Delhi earlier this year called “Smyle Inn” and can recommend it.
Details are on my India pages under accommodation tips along with photos and some ideas of what to see, where to eat and stay, you might find them useful
I hope that helps, if you need further info then please feel free to drop me a line
Happy travels
Rob

Travel Tips for Delhi

CLIMATE OF DELHI

by RAJASTHANBYCAR

Delhi is most comfortable between October and February with daytime temperatures of around (22 degree C) and cool evenings. December Arid January are decidedly chilly with night time lows of (4 degree C). The city has a fleeting, but beautiful flowering splendourduring the spring months of February and March, when parks brim over with flowers. The summer months of May and June are scorchingly hot, with the mercury soaring to a high of (46 degree C). Delhi does not have much of a rainy season compared to the other parts of the country. The monsoon or what there is of it in the citylasts from July to September.

Street Wiring

by keeweechic

In some areas of Delhi the mish mash of intertwining, looping and curling street wiring is amazing especially around the Jama Masjid Mosque... there is plenty there leaving you to wonder how it all doesn't spark a fire or worse, just simply collapse and electrocute someone.

Roadside saloons

by Rupanworld

Ever thought about having a haircut or shave at a streetside saloon? They are pretty cheap in India. A haircut for Rs. 15 (25 euro cents approx) and shave for the same amount I guess. I know some of my VT friends have given it a try and do recommend it :)

fabric, fashion and furniture

Another great place to shop. The long wrap-around skirts are my summer favorites. I also got gorgeous pillowcases and bed covers. At the Fab India home furnishing shop, I bought some beautiful lamps.

Airplane

by Rupanworld

Delhi is well connected with most Indian cities and all major cities of the world through the air route. Indira Gandhi International Airport is the Delhi airport. It is the busiest airport in India in terms of number of daily flights and the second-busiest in India in terms of number of passengers. In 2007, the Airport had 23 million passengers annually and the present expansion program is likely to increase the same to 100 million annual passengers by 2030. It is served by all domestic carriers like the Indian airlines, Kingfisher, Kingfisher Red, Spice jet, GoAir, Jet Airways, JetLite, Indigo, MDLR, Jagson etc. and all important internation air companies.
