Visiting Taj Mahal and the Desert of Rajasthan?
by reisevirus
Hi,
I'm arriving in Delhi on December 9th. Afterwards I'm planning to visit Taj Mahal and then travelling to Rajasthan where I'm going to do a desert trip (about 3 days or so).
Is there someone planning to do the same? Would be great to experience this nice place with someone else.
Just let me know!
Regards,
Sonja (Switzerland)

Hi Sonja,
I am sending you an email address of my friend in Jaipur. They just started their own B&B. See if it's something you might like to see. I visited her and she is full of information and it helps to know someone in a place.

Hi Sonja,
Just in case you're looking for a tour guide/driver while in Delhi/Agra/Rajasthan, I can recommend someone GREAT. I was in Delhi/Agra in March and he was wonderful. His name is Ramesh. He speaks English, always reliable and on time, is the best driver I've ever seen and took great care of us. Not sure if you've already booked someone, but if not- please contact Ramesh Kumar. You will not be disappointed.

He drives frequently to Delhi, Agra & Rajasthan. Please let me know if you have any questions- you can email me: rayurmi@yahoo.com
Good luck!

Travel Tips for Delhi
In Stark Contrast
by keeweechic
The following day I moved to the Hyatt Regency where I was to meet others and begin a tour. This was a huge contrast to my initial encounters, in many ways and I found my new temporary residence really quite formal and uninviting especially the location where there were mostly taller buildings and larger businesses surrounding the hotel. However, one view from my window was different again, on the perimeter of a park across the road were a small community of tents dwellers. Life for some seemed very unfair.
Green avenues
by husain
Delhi is one of the greener metros that i have seen. Inspite of its heavy traffic, there is a good deal of green cover around still, though pressure on land etc mean that its a constant struggle to keep it that way. The Ridge forest area of the city especially, is referred to as the lung of Delhi. Its a feature that also helps keep the possible sand-storms from neighbouring Rajasthan to blow over Delhi, something that does happen in the dry summer months even so...
Getaway to Corbett national park
by husain
A convenient and popular weekend getaway from Delhi is Corbett National Park.
Its a wildlife reserve, located in the foothills of the Himalayas and is a great place to see the tiger and other animals in the wild.
You can reach the park by an overnight train from Delhi station. Its about 7 hrs by road...
the best place for night life...
by golu
the best place for night life i delhi is invariably a decent bar. u wont find much nightlife on the streets in delhi. remember!! it gets dark early in india... if you are visiting in summers then u cannot afford to wear anything more than a t-sirt or a loose pyjama but if u happen to come sometime in dec(peak of winter season ) then i am afraid even two pullovers might not suffice
from overseas - indira gandhi...
by karma_kola
from overseas - indira gandhi international airport. all major airlines come to delhi from most of the world capitals / major cities. so we are pretty well connected.
best way is to get someone to drive you. otherwise the other options are rent a car, auto rikshaw (three wheelers), public buses are not recommended!!
