by garethowen

We're an English couple traveling from Southeast Asia to Delhi in a couple of days. We want to some decent CLEAN accommodation in Delhi, preferably aimed at backpackers. Can anyone help with areas/recommendations of hotels?

Dear friend,
If you are look a good nice hotel in range of Rs. 800/Rs. 1000 per Dbl room then you can contact: Hotel Regent Continental, Hotel Surya Shelter- they are in Karolgarh area, 15 min drive from CP and in central Delhi.

If you look for Rs. 400/500. you can go driectly to Pahargarj Area from airport and you can get it in that area. They are also nice and lots of backpacker people stay there. It is near also CP and New Delhi railway station.

Love and smile...vivek

No Problem – Try the Smyle Inn, I used this great little backpacker hotel on three separate occasions on my India trip earlier this year and have no hesitation in recommending it

Qutab Minar

by SirRichard

QUTAB MINAR MOSQUE
To get there, take the bus 505 from Ajmeri Gate. Entrance 5R.
The big tower, part of a greater religious complex, was built in 1193, immediately after the defeat of the last Hindu king in Delhi.
Notice that each 'level' of the tower has a different decoration, though it is all red coloured.

Packing List

by husain

In summer it gets pretty hot thru most of India, so get clothes to see you thru the hot and sometimes humid weather.
Floaters/ sandals etc would work well for footwear-in summer.
In winter, it gets pretty cold (goes down to about 2 degrees cel) during part of december, january and the first half of Feb. So carry suitable clothing.
In the south however, most parts dont see much of a winter... You should get pretty much all you would need here... including memory cards for your digital cameras. Though if you`re visiting the non metro-smaller towns, digital camera users would probably be advised to have enough memory cards/space before setting out. Though nowadays, most towns, unless you`re really headed to the back-of-beyond, would cater to your digital needs India uses a 220 volts/ 50Hz electric supply.
Unless your electrical devices are dual voltage (110-220), you may need to get a voltage converter. Though these are easily available at most neighbourhood electric goods shops.

Tibet House Lodi Road

by RAJASTHANBYCAR

The Tibet house is a must visit for those interested in Tibetian history, an excellent resource centre about Tibet. The House has a collection of artefacts brought from Tibet when the Dalai Lama fled from there.
There are rare 'Thangkhas' or painted scrolls from 15th century Tibetan monasteries, an exquisite collection of Buddha figurines, old currency notes, objects of prayer, musical instruments and antique jewellery. There is a library with books on Tibet, Tibetan history and culture. A shop is also located over here that sells clothes, jewellery, medicines, incense, curios and Tibetian handicrafts.
Open :- Monday to Friday 9.30 to 5.30

If you are planning to take a train from Old Delhi Railway Station, make sure to drop by the Comesum Multicuisine Food Plaza. They offer all kind of Indian Dishes, also available for Take Away. The food was very good and comes at low prices.
