Spa / Ayurveda / Yoga for 4 days

by Anastasia73

I will be in Delhi on the 4th week of November (26-29 Nov) for three / four day ayurveda/spa/yoga experience, preferably in the city.

Anyone have any guidance? I'm having a lot of difficulty finding information on the internet. Alternatively, does anyone know of a good group tour that would be easy to join?

Thanks

There are a number of Ayurvedic Salons at Khan Market in South Delhi. I had a head massage at one of them- but quite frankly, the name escapes me.
There are also many in Delhi central, around Connought Place. Walk a few paces, and you will find one.

I have a page on Delhi, with quite a lot of info. Click on link on my home page.

Incidentally- you could organize a driver cum tour guide quite easily from travel desk at hotel. They do not charge much, have local knowledge, and MOST speak English. This will give you more flexibilty to go wherever you want. Tour groups are usually a lot more expensive, and very hurried.
I have made a lot of tips of interesting things and places on my Delhi page. Have a read, make your choices according to your interests.

Travel Tips for New Delhi

The hotel I stay

by l_joo

I like the hotel (guesthouse) in Main Bazaar of Paharganj. In the month of May, the temperature goes up to 41 Celsius, without A/C is nearly impossible for many tourists. I wanted to try the heat but Andy insist to take the air-con room which cost us 760 rupees with bathroom attached and TV. Looking out from our room is this photo where we saw many peoples sleeping on the rooftop in the early morning. They also bath and wash clothes there. This is Main Bazaar of Paharganj and this hotel is built in within these constructions but surprisingly comfortable when we enter to see a different world with clean stairs, floors, rooms and bathrooms.

TIPS in NEW DELHI
1. Use Pre-Paid Taxi from the airport. Pay in Rupees. Don't give the driver any money.
2. Change money inside the airport on arrival.
3. Always insist on, and keep the exchange receipt. You will need it later.
4. Don't take your eye off your passport when it is in the agent's hands.
5. Buses are OK except during rush hours.
6. Auto Rickshaws are fast and plentiful, but rarely use the meter. Bargain first.
7. Be suspicious of over-friendly people.
8. Never drink water except from a sealed bottle.
9. Be prepared to bargain. Start by offering less than half the asked for price. If the shop-keeper does NOT call you back, then you are close to the correct price.
10. India is the Master of Imitation - so examine branded goods carefully.

Government buildings around Vijay Chowk

by ukirsari

Divided by two blocks:
~ North Block [here is the picture from this group] like Sansad Bhavan [Parliament House] and Central Hall [which is open for public]
~ South Block like The Prime Minister's Office and Minister of Defence. So called 'high security zone'.

by ukirsari

This Isa Khan's tomb can be found in Humayun's Tomb complex and predating 20 years before. Not so much explaination about this person, except his full name Isa Khan Niyazi as the noble in court of She Shah Sur.
* Entrance fee: Indian Rs10 and Pathkar [non-Indian] Rs250, including visit to Humayun's Tomb
