The hotel I stay
by l_joo
I like the hotel (guesthouse) in Main Bazaar of Paharganj. In the month of May, the temperature goes up to 41 Celsius, without A/C is nearly impossible for many tourists. I wanted to try the heat but Andy insist to take the air-con room which cost us 760 rupees with bathroom attached and TV. Looking out from our room is this photo where we saw many peoples sleeping on the rooftop in the early morning. They also bath and wash clothes there. This is Main Bazaar of Paharganj and this hotel is built in within these constructions but surprisingly comfortable when we enter to see a different world with clean stairs, floors, rooms and bathrooms.

TIPS in NEW DELHI
1. Use Pre-Paid Taxi from the airport. Pay in Rupees. Don't give the driver any money.
2. Change money inside the airport on arrival.
3. Always insist on, and keep the exchange receipt. You will need it later.
4. Don't take your eye off your passport when it is in the agent's hands.
5. Buses are OK except during rush hours.
6. Auto Rickshaws are fast and plentiful, but rarely use the meter. Bargain first.
7. Be suspicious of over-friendly people.
8. Never drink water except from a sealed bottle.
9. Be prepared to bargain. Start by offering less than half the asked for price. If the shop-keeper does NOT call you back, then you are close to the correct price.
10. India is the Master of Imitation - so examine branded goods carefully.
